Item: Fox, Time-Warner at odds — again; Channels could go dark if agreement is not reached/Alecia Warren, Coeur d’Alene Press
More Info: News Corp. is threatening to let several of its Fox channels go dark on Friday unless Time Warner Cable agrees to pay higher fees for the right to retransmit Fox programming. The companies have until the end of the year — when Time Warner’s contracts with Fox and several other networks expire — to reach an agreement.
Question: Have you switched from Time-Warner yet?

I’d rather have Time Warner than Fox, but in all honesty, I lost all TV reception with the digital transition. I refuse to pay for cable or satellite, and I enjoy being in a TV black hole.

I dumped cable TV a long time ago. During and after the ice storm, as a matter of fact. Cable company made me so mad, I called DirecTV and have it at both houses.

I switched to Dish back when they had the first spat. I wouldn’t go to dirct because Fox & Direct TV are owned by the same holding company. I seems that Fox manages to get along with comcast as well as Dish, sos sI dn’t see the competitive disadvantage here. Right now, I have TV over my internet. It allows me to watch football and Basebasll games, which is about all I ever watched when I was paying $45.00 per month for dish.

I still have the rabbit ears, because of the last spat a couple of years ago. I think Fox is being unreasonable, as they want to raise rates by 300%. They need to settle this before the NFL playoffs start, because NFC games are broadcast on FOX and those are the games alot of us want to watch.

Time warner has been just fine by me. No fox? No big deal there’s lots to watch if one is so inclined.

EJS, No Fox means no Giants-Vikings this weekend. Course I got it on the old style antenna.

We are actually looking to switch from Dish to Time-Warner. We are not terribly happy with the equipment Dish has given us and are unwilling to pay the $$$ for the next model up receiver and the one we can afford is a piece of crap. Plus we are looking at dumping Verizon DSL and getting it thru T-W (for $10 more then what we are paying now for the maybe 3 mgs we are supposed to get and the completely unreliable service thru Verizon, we can get 10mgs).
We may decide to not get the cable TV as we are watching less on cable and can get a lot of what we are watching via the computer and Netflix. We’ll see. I think we should also be able to get off the air broadcast if we get everything hooked up to the antenna we have on the shed. Still looking into those logistics.

We dumped both cable and Dish this year, we use just high speed internet and get everything we did on Dish or TW for about $70 less.

Did fox stop its broadcast over the air?

CB. Just crossing the wire. They reached a deal. Fox and Time Warner. Just a bargaining exercise from how it looks.
