Shannon Teeling of Mt. Vernon, center right, asks her daughter, Brynn Teeling, 5, if she wants a malt at the Winter Dance Party on Friday at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. The celebrations honor the 50-year anniversary of a crash that claimed the life of three rock ‘n’ roll legends, Buddy Holly, J.P. The Big Bopper Richardson and Ritchie Valens in February 1959. The trio performed in Clear Lake and then boarded a plane that soon crashed into a snowy Iowa corn field. (AP Photo/The Globe-Gazette, Teresa Prince)

If I have a favorite dead SINGER, that would be Sammy Davis jr. But, I don’t otherwise have any famous dead rockers that i care for.

Charlie - At one time I had big plans to get a dog just like your avatar. I was going to name him Elvis. Then I realized I pretty much hate all dogs so I lost interest in the idea. My favorite dead rocker - Cat Stevens. I know his body still lives on but the Cat is long gone.

Certainly Elvis, but during the 50’s ( i graduated in ‘56), the country crossover hit. Elvis led it, but a guy that was already dead, (1953) Hank Williams Sr. ruled that crowd. Obviously Hank wasn’t in a position to extend his lead, since Elvis was still alive, and he had been dead for 2 years. Hit’s like, Hey Good Lookin’, I’m so Lonesome I Could Cry, Take These Chains From My Heart, and on and on and on.
moscow_minidoka on February 01 at 7:34 p.m.
Gram Parsons, Hank Williams (Sr.) and John Lennon.

This wouldn’t be rock, but perhaps the best crooner since Sinatra. How about (darn, my aged memory kicked in or actually, out. You know the Colorado king. Rocky Mtn. High, etc. help someone?
Kage_Mann on February 01 at 7:38 p.m.
