In two straight Super Bowls now we have seen the greatest play in the game’s history. Last year it was an unknown Giants wide receiver named David Tyree who caught a pass from Eli Manning with the ball somehow pressed against his helmet as he tumbled to the ground on a reception that still defies explanation. And now James Harrison, a player no one had heard much of until two years ago, when he suddenly blossomed into a star linebacker for the Steelers, jumped in front of a Warner pass at the goal line and rumbled past lunging, stumbling Cardinals and into history as he plummeted breathlessly into the end zone 100 yards away in what must be the finest feat of endurance we have seen in a game like this/Washington Post.
Question: Can the 2009 Super Bowl be rated as the greatest ever?

No. Memorable, but not greatest.
However, throwing an interception seconds before half time when an easy feild goal would have tied the game… that is the greatest mistake ever made in a super bowl game.

I’d say this one was the best one I have seen in years…

It had it all. Great plays. Heartbreaking mistakes. And like the photos shows— moments of absolute wonder. Good fun.

Seems like every other year we get “this is the greatest Superbowl ever”
All three of Kurt Warner’s superbowls have been really exciting. Remember Steve McNair coming up a yard short? New England kicking a field goal at time expired to beat the rams?
Patriots -Carolina was pretty darn good, Last years was really good. In addtion to losing last year by 3, the Patriots have won 3 Superbowl by a field goal. All in the last 9 years.
This would have been much better if Arizona had threatened to score again at the end of the game. It was a good game, but we will forget it within 3 years… It will be a hazy memory we have to look up.

I know MM. I’m not much into hockey either. ;-) I did have the honor of plunging a bowl last night.
On the bright side there was nobody at Bogus Basin. I did get some great shots of that helicopter delivering those kids rescued there yesterday.

It was a memorable game, but not in the ranks of greatest. The fourth quarter was exciting, but there were lots of lulls.
Here are my Top 5 Super Bowls.
1. 1991 — New York Giants beat Buffalo Bills 20-19 (Unbelievable drama, contrasting styles, and oh yeah, a missed field goal a the end, wide left).
2. 1989 — San Francisco 49ers beat Cinncinnati 20-16 (Joe Montana proved he’s the greatest with a fourth quarter win over the offensive powerhouse Bengals squad).
3. 2008 — New York Giants beat New England 17-14 (Eli Manningruins the Patriots perfect season with some crazy heroics and a great defense).
4. 2002 - New England Patriots beat St. Louis Rams 20-17(Unknown Tom Brady leads a miracle drive and the game is decided on a last second field goal. Remarkable upset).
5. 2000 — St. Louis beat Tennesee 23-16 (Out of nowhere Kurt Warner lives a Disney Movie and wins the big one. Tennessee comes up one yard short of scoring the game tying touchdown.)

Norwood’s kick was wide right, just FYI.

This year’s Super Bowl was pretty doggoned good. Nowhere near as bad as some of the Super Bowl “laughers” that I’ve seen. I think Arizona really surprised a lot of people, though. A lot of people, including myself, didn’t think it would be that close of a game.
