SR photog extraordinaire Jesse Tinsley sent the photo above to me this afternoon, with this message: “Do you remember the photo I sent you for HBO of the guy where an unbroke horse flipped upside down and squashed the rider in Sept. 2007? At that time, the rider, Corey Newline of Post Falls, laid on the ground screaming in pain for several minutes before Bob McMurray told him he had to get back onto the horse.” Jesse then told me what happened to Corey when he was crushed under the note and included a note that Corey sent him recently. Question: How do you think this turned out?

broken leg and hip?
Or just brief but intense groin pain?

I think Dave left out that Corey’s pelvis was broken in the mishap and that he did, indeed, get back on the horse momentarily before staggering off to rest.

The reason why he was command to get back on the horse is, most will never get on a horse again, if they are involved in an tip over. It isn’t a manly thing.. it is a horseman/woman thing.
I learn two things from my mother… NEVER EVER let the reins go, and to get back on that horse within a minute. Both of them were hard to do sometimes. Especially one that went over on me, and then as it got up and kicked me in the arm. At the age of 38, I broke the first rule… for the first time. I didn’t care if that horse was run over by a freight train.
