When you go to bed, who sleeps near the door? And does that change if you go to a friend’s house. Is it important to be on the door side or is it left or right of the bed to sleep. Or even West or East or South or North? Which side do you claim?/Simple Mind. More here.
DFO: I always sleep on the righthand side of the bed (as you face the bed from the foot). Dunno why. But I don’t like it when the right side is against the wall, when we’re spending the night at friends of family.
Question: Do you sleep on a set side of your bed?

Quirky! I also like the right side - whether or not it is nearest the door. I felt a little weird though when I was at a conference and I had a king bed (that I swear was much wider than any king bed I have seen). I snuggled in on the right side and looked over the vast flat spread. Five or six of me could have slept comfortably.

I’m a right-sider too, but when traveling I always have to be nearest the door. Never know when you’ll need to make a quick escape.
Here’s another quirk: whenever we got to movies or concerts I always have my husband sit on my left. I hate it when he sits on my right.
Does this mean I’m always right?

Is a wife ever wrong?
Dunno fer sure,,,, but every time I try to test that therory with the war department,,,,,right & left becomes a moot point,,, I end up on the couch!
PS: Cindy, unfortunately, (or in this case, Fortunately :-),,,, I can’t mke it to Blogfest,,,, So I suppose I can take my shot!

When you stand at the foot of the bed, I always sleep on the left side and my wife on the right. I’m not sure how this worked itself out, but after 7 years we are pretty set in our ways. I guess, in both of the homes we’ve owned, I have always been closest to the door and she is closest to the window - but I’m not sure that bears into the decision in any way.

As to the question, Right side whether by the door or wall.
Now I have a question for you all. How is it that a 5 ft 100 pound woman can lay claim to an entire king size bed with blankets and leave a sliver of mattress the width of a fence plank for her loving husband of 30 years?
And she sometimes wonders why I’m cranky when I wake up in the morning!

I am a right side of the bed person also. I lay on my left side facing the nightstand and I can’t sleep against a wall. I have been told that I can steal all the sheets and comforter at least five times a night!

I have no side preferences as I am very easy-going.

I trained myself to only sleep on the left side of my husband, and I HAVE to sleep on my left side. Sleeping on my right side wasn’t an option for a while, what with the soft spot and all.

Dennis … Maybe you should think about not moving away when she snuggles up. Just sayin/

Actually, all kidding aside, many years ago I had Dennis’s problem. I just waited until my side of the bed was untenable, then walked around and got in the other side. Works every time.

Tried That Herb!!!! Didn’t work.
But movin’ to the other side of the bed might be worth tryin’.
Thanks for the tip!!!

I’ve been a leafty all of my life, and a whole bed person (after my wakes up)…or during naps.

This thread reminds me of the very large woman joining her husband at bedtime.
She was sure he loved her because every time she got into bed he rolled toward her. :)

My side invariably becomes the one that has the small endtable next to it with a very dim lamp upon it. That way I can read the whole night away if I wish without disturbing my husband. Who half the time falls asleep sitting up in front of the TV anyway and stumbles in, groggy and grumpy, around 2 or 3 a.m.
But right now, since we gifted ourselves a brand-new Sealy Eurotop queen size bed as a mutual Christmas present, I’ve noticed him spending MUCH more time in it… on the left side. So yeah, I guess I’m a righty too. Handedness must not have anything to do with it, since I’m left-handed to the point of near stupidity with my right. Perhaps the side nearest the door does- I of course am the one who gets up every time I hear a small boy’s wail from his (also brand-new) race car bed on the other side of the house. So sleeping on that side might be because it’s nearest the door. Hmm…

I have never been able to sleep in the same bed with someone else. Just can’t do it. I’m afraid I’ll turn over and actually bean someone, and besides, my hearing is still amazingly good, and I can’t have any extraneous noise at all. I always have music on low…very, Very, VERY low, almost inaudible. I’ve been woken up by woodpeckers across the street from me. I am very possessive of my Wee Small Hours. I’ve just always been that way. I couldn’t stand any of the Room-matesI had in College. I’m a person who requires a lot of alone-time. My hat’s off to those who can sleep with someone else, but it’s not an option for me. Of course that puts a damper on any relationship possibilities; so be it, I guess.
