Socks The Cat, 18, RIP

In this March 19, 1994, file photo, Socks the cat peers over the podium in the White House briefing room in Washington. Socks, the White House cat during the Clinton administration, has died. He was about 18. Socks had lived with Bill Clinton’s secretary, Betty Currie, in Hollywood, Md., since the Clintons left the White House in early 2001. (AP Photo/Marcy Nighswander, File)

Mine are fairly young. Rum Tum is about 3 1/2, Phoebe is about 1 1/2 - 2. Not exactly sure how old Scrapper is since we got him as a semi-feral who had been dumped out here, so I’ll guess he’s at least 3-4.

My Squeaky was 18 years old. It was heartbreaking, seriously.

It is actually kinda funny how this article doesn’t even pretend it was ever the Clinton’s cat. They pawned that poor feline off to Betty Currie once Bill and Hil left the White House.

He’s 45. I think he’s got a few more good years in him.

I wonder why they pawned the cat off…perhaps it was Chelsea’s cat and after she left home they couldn’t take care of it (they are pretty busy people?) or they just didn’t care. Hmmm?

Anyway, our dog is almost 4 and our two cats 5 and 6 1/2.

I believe I read that the cat sort of bonded to Ms. Currie and she was going thru a rough time in her life so they let her have him.
that said…there are just SOOOO many bad jokes that I exchanged with a friend this morning over this particular news item. This being a family paper, I shan’t repeat them in here…..

Shhh..if we could have only gotten Socks to talk, what a story he could have told. I hear he was lurking under the desk when Bill…er…well you know. Is it too late to revive him?

True to the direction set by the Minority Party in Congress, no Republican Cats attended Mr. Socks’ funeral.

Kinda makes you ‘paws’ for reflection, don’t it?

    Meow Meow Meow Meow MeowMeowMeowMeow…..

I lossed my dog right before Christmas, she was 15. I have 3.5 cats that have found me though. The latest were dumped on the highway this spring, one was left in our shed by the momma cat, and one is the neighbors that comes in thru the kittie door. long enough to steal some food and slips away the moment you try to approach him. His owner passed away so he is lonely and hungry. I swear I am turning into the crazy cat lady.
