I used to, as a kid, ride the Carousel at Playland Pier (where Independence Point is now). There was even a story floating around CDA back in the ‘80s, that the carousel was found back East somewhere, and that the CDA City Fathers were going to bring it back to CDA.

Does anyone else here remember Playland Pier from the 60s/early ‘70s? It burned down in the mid ‘70s. I had so much fun there. I spent a lot of time there, and the ‘fun house’ at Playland Pier was where I learned to play pinball, a game that I’m still pretty good at.

The best summers of my life were when I was a kid, enjoying the freedom of City Park and Independence point. I have fond memories of City park, both from and past and up until 3 years ago. Conversely, I was always sad at the ‘overrun’ condition of the park after all the tourists loved it to death every summer.

I do hope the City Park stays just as beautiful as it’s always been. That park brings back a lot of memories for me. My family used to have picnics there. I took swimming lessons at City Beach. I dove from the docks. If I could, I’d go back to those idyllic ‘60s summers at City Park.

I love proper horse MerryGoRounds with a passion, it was about 3 years ago since I visited the Hollycombe Steam Fair where they have the most amazing vintage steam driven MerryGoRound…. I spend almost an hour on it lmfao…… until I almost made meself sick where I was so giddy…….

We took our son for rides on the carousel at Riverfront part when he was a baby. Just like we took his sister to the carousel at Nantasket Beach in Massachusetts when she was a baby (this was long before we graced the Inland Northwest with our presence…)
Every so often I ride one of these things, but personally, I prefer real horses…
