A prominent Coeur d’Alene insurance agent and school booster charged with possessing cocaine this month is part of a larger criminal conspiracy investigation involving at least a half a kilogram of the drug and dating back more than a year. In addition to a state charge of possession of a controlled substance, Jerry S. Carlson, 47, faces three federal charges, one related to distribution of more than 500 grams of cocaine that took place over several months, documents show. I vaguely remember that my parents used to have their cars insured via this guy’s agency back when I was in high school…There seems to be a resurgence with cocaine use. When I was back in Moscow a couple years ago, I was surprised at how prevalent it was among the some of the student population.

You wonder who else is going to get arrested in this case. I bet some important folks in CDA are sweating.

I wonder if it’s time now to admit that Jerry Carlson has been my Farmers Agent for 15 to 20 years? Alas.

Idwa, you are so right about resurgence. Arthur Conan Doyle writing about the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes back in the late l880’s records the use of cocaine regularly by the London gentry and criminals.

As long as it doesn’t affect his business, and it has nothing to do with minors, I say who cares. Of course, I know the law doesn’t work that way, but…

Can’t help but note that Jerry Carlson won’t get the latitude that A-Roid did. These insurance guys! Business is not good enough so they have to develop a sideline? At least Jerry didn’t ask for the deal that AIG is relentlessly pursuing; instead, choosing to access his entreprenurial abilities. daveo, I bet I can name 3 dozen people I know in Coeur d’Alene who use/used Jerry. Really stupid stuff on Jerry’s part.

It’s too bad. Jerry was a pretty good guy in the past. I haven’t seen him in a long time. This screw up is going to cost him and his family. Don’t know how he ended up like this, but it’s a shame.
