Sandpoint Area OKs School Levy

The Lake Pend Oreille School District levy has passed with 59.5 percent of the vote. The $10.95 million supplemental levy received 3,965 yes votes to 2,699 no votes. The levy required a simple majority for approval, 50 percent plus one vote. The levy is divided in two parts, with $4.6 million to be collected in year one and $6,350,000 in year two/Marlisa Keyes, Bonner County Bee. More here.

Question: Lake Pend Oreille School District is known as one of the toughest places to pass school bonds and levies in North Idaho. Is this a promising sign in these tough economic times for other districts who want to pass supplemental levies?

The levy was carried by Sandpoint, Clark Fork and Hope.
All the others, Southside, Northside, and Kootenai voted no, but not enough to over ride the levy

    I stand corrected… Kootenai passed it… I had heard it didn’t.

Ahhhh depending on which levy? I think that any one who makes assumption this will make it easier in Cda is wrong and delusional. It is like comparing apples and oranges. They may still be fruit but that is where the comparison ends.

I was pleasantly surprised. Not surprised that Sagle and Southside didn’t support it—that’s the uber-right stronghold of the county. I’ve never understood why those folks don’t at least support local taxes for local benefit. Weird how this county is divided. Oh, if Spence is still around, he’s from that uber-right area.
