Noah Kroese/Special for Huckleberries Online
Question: Noah Kroese, ex-UIdaho Argonaut cartoonist, drew the cartoon above for the Blogfest ‘07. One phenomenon I’ve noticed at Blogfests is … bloggers and commenters seem relieved to finally step from behind their pseudonyms. So here’s the question: How much are you, in your real life, like your online persona?
Cabbage Boy on February 26 at 11:24 a.m.
I am me.
Cindy_H on February 26 at 11:27 a.m.
CB: Me too!
JeanC on February 26 at 11:28 a.m.
In real life I am a LOT shyer :D
Stickman on February 26 at 11:28 a.m.
I have to agree.
marmitetoasty on February 26 at 11:34 a.m.
In real life or on the phone, especially to doodles, I do tend to talk slower and often a little more clearer LOL only cos its hard to deal with the constant ‘what’ ‘pardon’ ‘excuse me’ or ‘what the heck did you just say mam’ LOL
I do know if any doodles were in the company, lets say, up the pub for instance, with me and me maties, they would probably be a little gobsmacked LOL
Other then that Im just plain old boring mundane me :)

Marmite - you are never boring!!!! I’m like everyone else here after reading you - I have a British accent in my head for a couple hours. And sometimes it spills out my mouth.
As for who I am? I’m me, just me, only me, what you see is what you get. I’m shy. I liked sitting behind my funny little moose until DFO thought it was weird - so you all have seen the real me. Now I just show you my eyes.
hmoffsuite on February 26 at 11:43 a.m.
Actually, in real life, I am more opinionated. :~)
Kage_Mann on February 26 at 11:50 a.m.
I’m more reserved in my older age. ;-)
Me on February 26 at 12:32 p.m.
Hey wait a minute I am ME!!
Kage_Mann on February 26 at 12:41 p.m.
I rather go to parties incognito. Somehow, unmasking your online persona takes away the mystery of that person.
Cindy_H on February 26 at 12:45 p.m.
Yep. I’m pretty mysterious.
Aliasjax on February 26 at 12:59 p.m.
There will be no unmasking of me, I hope…I like the annonimity. Ajax says what I think though, so I’m being myself being someone else.
Digger on February 26 at 1:04 p.m.
I’m about as opinionated in person as I am on this blog. Maybe a little moreso on the blog, but not much.
GaryIngram on February 26 at 1:09 p.m.
I am going to out myself in response to this question. I am not Gary Ingram. I am………be right back. got to answer the phone…..
Joker on February 26 at 1:10 p.m.
I am soooo much more cooler in person. Just wait till you see my aura.
marmitetoasty on February 26 at 1:14 p.m.
Wondering if ‘aura’ is a new brand of depends :)

Cabbage Boy on February 26 at 1:18 p.m.
Sorry Me, I didn’t mean You, just me.
idawa on February 26 at 1:22 p.m.
i’m pretty much me - then again, I’m not really anonymous on this blog as anyone withi a couple seconds could find out who I am (especially given some of the features of the new blog). I once thought of ditching my alias after I started linking to my actual profiles in various form, but decided against it, not to preserve my anonymity but because I have been posting here under “idawa” for so long i didn’t want to have to reestablish myself…
Kage_Mann on February 26 at 1:27 p.m.
marmitetoasty, what does England think of Obama, now that his budgets will increase our deficit by 3 trillion in the US? I think were headed for a depression and maybe were there now.
JBelle on February 26 at 2:02 p.m.
First of all, Kage, you can’t say things like that. There are enough people who frequent this blog that really are well versed and/or educated in economics so that statements like the one you just made discount you. Deep. It comes across as fingernails on the old school chalkboard. So just say, yo Marmie! what you all on the island think of Obama? And she’ll tell you without getting everyone here in an uproar. Unless you wanted an unroar? Kaaaage?
Second, how much am I like my onscreen persona? Next question. You! You in the back…
Kage_Mann on February 26 at 2:15 p.m.
JBelle, Oh excuse me your highness cleopatra. When you get your stimulus check, you can thank your kids and grandkids for it, because they’ll be taxed for it later on.
Me on February 26 at 2:38 p.m.
No prob CB - It’s hard being Me when everyone wants to be Me. BTW - ME are my initials which is why I came up with that as my name.
I am pretty much the same here as in normal life. The difference is that I don’t get into the same ‘converstations’ in real life that I do here which is fun. I don’t like confrontation and arguments which is why once a thread gets really heated here I leave.
I won’t be attending Blogfest because I don’t know anyone (I don’t think I do anyway) and I am shy in social situations and would probably just sit in a corner drinking Stella and watching everyone - hmmm that IS basically what I do here online too!
I would like to meet Cindy someday as I am her biggest fan (not Bob) and I would like to meet Stickman - but I plan on trying to do that this summer!
Me on February 26 at 2:40 p.m.
Oh and Kage - what are you talking about a ‘stimulus check’?? There are no checks going out in this recovery package - we’re getting $13 more a week in our paychecks!!! (will that cover the Avista rate hike?)
JeanC on February 26 at 2:48 p.m.
Me, I didn’t know anyone last year when I went to Blogfest and had a wonderful time. I’m shy to, it took me a while to finally go over and say hi to people. Anyways, nothing wrong with sitting in the corner and people watching, I do it all the time at social gatherings :D
JBelle on February 26 at 2:54 p.m.
(LAUGHING AND LAUGHING) Sooo Kage, now you’re going to take run at me? The one that said to you, early on, hey come over here and sit by me?! With regard to that stimulus check, as a highness, a Cleopatra, I’d give checks out, not get them. Wouldn’t ya think? AND GET THAT BLANK PHONEY SMILE OFF YOUR FACE!
And my offer still stands: come on over here and sit by me. I’ll introduce you around. Maybe there’s a racquetball partner for you here…you could make some friends?
:)
Cindy_H on February 26 at 2:58 p.m.
ME!!
What will I do without you?
I was counting on you, ME.
Sigh.
MamaJD on February 26 at 3:23 p.m.
“Somehow, unmasking your online persona takes away the mystery of that person.”
Yeah, I agree. Unless we know who you are anyway. ;)
eagleeye on February 26 at 3:29 p.m.
Jbelle,
When you have kage next to you let’s gather the whole group around and have him explain to us the snarky comments he makes over at opencda.
Mary, this isn’t the type of response a certain moderator at HBO was trying to elicit. He was trying to get your goat or make you mad.A commenter from HBO emailed a picture to him last month.Anyway, ya stole his thunder and too bad he has to use a picture of you to put in a thread, so he try to get more hits on his blogsite.

Kage: If you come, be respectful to the ones that have come before you, like JBelle and Bob. You will be much more liked if that is your idea of a perfect afternoon. Otherwise, you may have a few that want words with you. Not me though, I have given up that idea.
Sparky on February 26 at 10:46 p.m.
I am, who I am. I am very, very shy. I blend into the background and go unnoticed. I rarely talk and I am rather boring.
florined on February 26 at 11:14 p.m.
Me, please give another thought to joining us. I don’t know most of the folks, either, not even DFO, but what I’ve learned is that people who join in the discussions here AND people who find the discussions worthy of blurk time, are people who have interests, thoughts, lives that are in themselves worthy (yes, even those I strongly disagree with) So, I’m gonna get on my bike and head for Post Falls and enjoy pizza and either babble or blurk, depending on my mood of the moment. I hope to see you there.
Liz on February 27 at 12:54 a.m.
oh, I am me. Looking forward to meeting everyone live and in person…
nic on February 27 at 7:58 a.m.
I try to do the best imitation of myself.
