HBO’s PM Headlines — 2/26/09

“I recently had my windows dilated, in order to find out that, over the years, my windows have been damaged by over-use,” posts Toadman, Synaptic Disunion. “Things far away, aren’t as clear as they used to be. Things close up, aren’t as clear as they used to be. It seems that things have to remain a safe distance from me, in order to be seen properly.” More here.

Question: Do you have good vision?

Nope, been in and out of glasses since the age of 8. Currently in bi-focals that don’t work anymore and haven’t worked since a month after I had gotten the new prescription :(

I can see okay as long as I don’t need to see anything in focus.

I’ve had cataracts removed from both eyes and lenses implanted. Still have trouble putting! ;)

I think I have had glasses or contacts since I was 9 or 10. I still remember leaving the eye place (in CDA - I go to the North Idaho Eye Institute now and I think it was in the same place? or near there?) and seeing individual leaves on the trees - I was amazed.

About 5 years ago I had a branch vein occlusion. Basically it was caused by VERY high blood pressure. It came out in my eye instead of a stroke, or blood clot in my leg etc. That meant I had a blob of blood in my eye (the vein basically exploded) and it affected my vision. Luckily I got my blood pressure under control and the blood disappeared and the Dr. is amazed at every appointment that there is very little trace of it left. It usually happens to much older people and since I was just over 40 when it happened I was very lucky that it healed well.

Any way because of this I don’t get to go every 2 years, its every year. But after that experience I don’t mind. It was HORRIBLE having that blob on my eye and not seeing well.

I’ve worn glasses since 1968. I’m presently utilizing a pair of no-line bifocals. Even with those, I can’t see as ‘up close’ as I’d like. It’s a bummer when I end up on the Wrong Guitar Fret ‘cos I’m having a rough time seeing what I’m doing. Ack! Twangggg….
