Video Captures Police Brutality On Girl

Item: Beating caught on police video: Tape shows officer kicking, striking teenager/Scott Gutierrez/Seattle PI

More Info: A video showing a King County Sheriff’s deputy pummeling a 15-year-old girl in a holding cell was released Friday over the strenuous objections of the officer’s attorney. The case goes beyond police misconduct, County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said in a prepared statement. “It’s about criminal misconduct. And that’s why he needs to be prosecuted,” he said. The video of the Nov. 29 incident was disclosed Friday, one day after Deputy Paul Schene, 31, pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault in King County District Court.

Question: First, watch the video linked to above and then tell HBO readers if you can find any justification for that kind of attack on the teen-age girl?

it is absolutely disgusting. the guy who did the beating is filth and the one who watched is just as guilty. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and then some.

He’s not an officer. He’s an idiot. Calling him an officer denegrates the hard working public servants that put their lives on the line every day for all of us.

There is “NO WAY” to defend the action taken by this twit. And unfortunately, this idiots actions will label all officers as bullies in the eyes of a lot of people.

I’m curious to know the true history of this individual while on the job. If there were prior complaints of misconduct.

An for the record, I prefer to take a wait and see position on any action that law enforcement is involved with that generates a public outcry. There are always two sides to any story. In this case, both sides were caught on tape. He needs to be prosecuted

    This makes me sick!

These two officers should be terminated and spend some time in lockup. Many times these actions aren’t the first time occurrences. Wonder what their family lives are like? I see a large financial settlement for the girl.

If these two cops get fired, they will probably go somewhere else to be cops and do the same stuff again. Bad cops seem to stay bad. Don’t we see this over here, Otto Zihm comes to mind.

Cops take alot of guff and disrespect from the public.Alot of people couldn’t do that job.Alot of times in audio and video links we see cops retaliate and we don’t see the prelude to what happened. When the cop struck her twice, was she biting his hand? If she kicked her shoe off and it hit him in the shin, that’s battery. Still, he overreacted and was too rough with the girl.

After so many years, some cops start suffering from signs of intense anxiety and stress and I think these stories illustrate that.If some people can’t handle being a cop anymore, they need to recognize it and retire.

Come on KM,,, how could you honestly defend that clowns actions? Assault? not in your wildest dreams. There’s no prosecutor out there that would file those charges based on that video. Having raised a daughter and son who weren’t allowed to wear shoes in the house, that was a very mild shoe removal.

As to the biting, well, the officer put himself in that position in the first place. Had he been doing his job professionally, the use of force would not have been necessary.

I will agree that the job isn’t for everyone though. A better pre-hire screening might be in order for that agency.

Dennis, I’m not defending his actions and he should be prosecuted.I’m merely, trying to relay what some cops go through when they do their jobs. As one who used to be at odds with the cops in my youth, I know what they go through,
but it still doesn’t justify this cops actions.

This cop was previously involved in two questionable shooting incidents. In one of those controversies he killed a mentally ill man during traffic stop…

The actions on this video clearly demonstrate that this officer can be pushed over the top very easily. This man should not have a gun…

The cop who beat her probably goes home and does the same thing to his wife and kids…
