FYI- today at 12:34:56 pm will be happening on 7-8-09. Might have to wait another 100 years for the next one!

@ Charlie; thanx. I have a TV in my Man's Den on the 2nd floor. I'll tune in the game now.

I promise not to watch the game. I have dutifully kept the tv off at night - except last night. Boy, THAT was a mistake! So, I'll just keep working here and not even THINK about the Mariners.

Also, coeurgenx, today 07-08-09 at 10:11:12 Magic strikes.

Wild card entry: I read a couple posts today from survivors of people who have died. I would just like to urge the regular HBO commenters to be careful with your words as you respond to scanner reports and news reports about someone's death. They leave behind loved ones, mothers, children, spouses, friends - all who frantically search the great internet for anything, any word about their loved one. It truly hurts when you see some callous remark made from a blogger who has never known your loved one or even you. Peace.

I saw something interesting on my commute this morning. A sleek black vehicle was cruising down Highway 3 near Rose Lake. In an area visited mostly by pickups and Buell logging trucks, it was an oddity.

I thought it looked like a great new Corvette until closer inspection. First, I thought i recognized Ken Smith, the late Dave Smith's son, who lives a few miles from us on the Coeur d'Alene River. Indeed, the car had the same unique 'K 1' license plate and it contained a great sports car enthusiast, except…

an owner of the world's largest Dodge/Chrysler dealership and GM's largest in the northwest…

    was driving a Mercedes.

    Hmmm.

I agree Jeanie, this place sort of becomes a online memorial for many of the deceased.

Jeannie, Sweetie, you are the best of the very best. Callous remarks directed toward anyone have an impact that can never be known by the issuer. It's a beautiful thing you do by raising this point, again, in a kind and thoughtful manner.

Don't tell JeanieS, but the Mariners have blown a 3-0 lead in the 9th and now are trailing 4-3. Now, back to your regular programming.

Well, humphff! I guess I don't have to watch the re-run tonight. I'll just take the little old remote control away from Mechanic Man who has to impulsively and obsessively flick from the game (they are LOSING) to the weather station (and it is STILL the same temp it was five minutes ago. Trust me.)

Looks like I am not the only one thinking that Obama is doing a poor job these days. Lastest tracking poll. How 'bout those shovel ready jobs, huh?

Well my boys are traveling to Seattle this weekend to see them play. I don't think they really care who wins or loses, they just like the all male road trip thing :-)

Most of the stimulus money is going to those that supported Obama. Seems to me that the stimulus spending should not be driven by politics, but it seems to be the case.

It appears that hmoffsuite only read the headline, not the story:

“Investigators who track the stimulus are skeptical that political considerations could be at work. The imbalance is so pronounced — and the aid so far from complete — that it would be almost inconceivable for it to be the result of political tinkering, says Adam Hughes, the director of federal fiscal policy for the non-profit OMB Watch. “Even if they wanted to, I don't think the administration has enough people in place yet to actually do that,” he says.”

    and this:

“Not all of the money favors places that supported Obama. About a third of the $17 billion, or $5.5 billion, in contracts that the federal government has signed for projects ranging from repaving runways to cleaning up nuclear waste has gone overwhelmingly to counties that supported McCain.

Jake Wiens, an investigator with the non-profit Project on Government Oversight, says it's too soon to draw meaningful conclusions about whether the type of aid in the stimulus favors Obama's constituents.”
