The Coeur d’Alene Police Department is currently investigating the report of two robberies that occurred in the downtown area of Coeur d’Alene, of Zips on Sherman Avenue and the Shell Station on Northwest Boulevard. The robberies were in close proximity and within an hour and 10 minutes of each other. The suspect description is similar in both cases. The Zips incident occurred first at 6:10 pm. The cashier saw the male approaching the store located at 715 E. Sherman while pulling down a ski mask. The cashier locked himself into the office area. A witness in the store said the suspect entered the store but did not take anything. The witness said the suspect did not make any threats but did have a handgun. The suspect fled the store and ran north on 7th St, then west in the 600 block alley of N. Lakeside. At 7:20 pm a white male of similar description entered the Shell Station at 508 NW Blvd. He put an item on the counter and gave the clerk money to pay for it. The clerk attempted to give the suspect change and the suspect reached into the till and took an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect fled on a white BMX style bike east on Garden Ave. No weapon was observed in this incident/Coeur d'Alene Police Department news release.
