Bill Would Ban Idaho Firing Squads

Item: Bill that would ban firing squads advances in Idaho Legislature/Idaho Statesman

More Info: A bill that would remove firing squads as an alternative for execution in Idaho is moving on to the full Idaho House. The House Judiciary and Rules Committee unanimously approved the HB107 Tuesday afternoon. … Staffers with the Idaho Attorney General’s office told the committee the changes were necessary to prevent lawsuits and make Idaho’s antiquated death penalty laws constitutional. If approved, it would also make it faster for Idaho to carry out death warrants.

Question: Is there a universal method of execution that you’d prefer in extreme capital punishment cases that warrant the death penalty?

Nothing warrants the death penalty of any sort.

All I know is if they take it away I won’t be able to share the fact that my home state is one of two that still allows for firing squad with people who want to talk about Idaho.

I think those worthy of the death penalty should be locked inside a 70’s era split-level house with 3 teenage boys.
After a week, death by firing squad would seem like a blessing.
    But that’s just me.

When was the last time Idaho executed someone by firing squad? Was it Snowden in 1967? Idaho has only executed two people in the last 42 years and the last one was Gary Wells by lethal injection in 1994.He also, didn’t appeal his death sentence. This is almost a non-issue IMO.

What is it this Gary Wells did to warrant the needle? Is he the one who claimed to have murdered several women in ID and OR?
