Question: How would you describe you fitness today?
Liz on March 07 at 1:05 a.m.
that is one ugly chick. I thought it was a blow-up doll until I read the text. Seriously. I don’t know where women get off on thinking this is attractive.
wheels on March 07 at 8:15 a.m.
Ditto.
wheels on March 07 at 8:16 a.m.
Or men either for that matter.Want to avoid any appearance of being sexist.

Do these muscles make me look fat??
Sam on March 07 at 10:12 a.m.
I’m very proud to say I don’t look like that picture.
Stickman on March 07 at 10:16 a.m.
I try to walk every day and watch what I eat, so I guess I feel fairly fit. Nothing like when I was younger and could jump over tall buildings, but I feel pretty good these days.
Sam on March 07 at 10:22 a.m.
P.S. ~ I consider my fitness level to be pretty good. But there’s always progress to be made.
Rosalind on March 07 at 10:45 a.m.
I personally don’t think this woman is attractive, but I don’t dare put my values of attractiveness on to other people. In her circle/culture of bodybuilding - she is one hot lady!! :)
If I could just lose a couple inches of insulation, I might be able to see some of the toned muscles I’ve been working on. Darn winter insulation!
Truly on March 07 at 11:05 a.m.
What fitness level - if this is fitness then I ask why????? OMG this is just freeking scary and then some.
Rosalind on March 07 at 11:11 a.m.
Yes! Let’s pass judgment and make fun of this lady! Ha! I suppose passing judgments is the whole idea of sharing opinions. I get it. I’m guilty. But still.
If this woman were obese, would it still be ok to do?
Sam on March 07 at 11:22 a.m.
I should point out that the dedication it took for Iris to get to that level is immense. Her diet had to be on point for perhaps 4-6 months. That is, it had to be PERFECT. It had to be calorically to the T, and therefore she probably ate the exact.same.thing. over and over. Mostly, she probably ate 4-8 ounces of chicken breast for nearly every meal, pretty much guaranteed.
To then go into body shock to shed the water she needed to look that cut would also be no fun at all. And the cardio, holy mother the cardio, would just be horrific.
What it took her to look like that is flat-out impressive, especially since *most* women simply don’t have the same levels of testosterone that it takes to ever look like that. Most women could lift weights as hard and heavy as possible and never look like Iris Kyle.
Still, Iris Kyle isn’t in it to look like some hottie. And she knows it, so Rosalind, calm down a bit. There are specific categories of bodybuilding women for these competitions. They’re called “figure” body builders and they’re nowhere near as bulky. By the way, she only weighs about 160 in that photo, believe it or not.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder……. while this lady is not everyones cup of tea neither are super skinny models or tall people with hunched backs or people with draggy legs and big feet………
I say, to each their own……

being attractive really isn’t the point of this sport … it is turning your body into a display case for possible muscle growth. It takes a lot of time and dedication - more so then most of the Cheetos munching internet crowd can muster.
Anyway, to DFO’s question, my fitness level is pretty good. I am still at the same weight that I was in high school (10+ years later) and I try to run between 15-20 miles per week. My goal is to run over 500 miles this year (year to day I’m about 135…), and my resting heart rate is in the low 40s, and my blood pressure is great. I am working on my cholesterol (bad genes which I discovered after my dad’s heart attack) but hope I can do it without medication via more exercise and diet.
Liz on March 07 at 2:47 p.m.
and come on, does anybody SERIOUSLY think this woman didn’t have some pharmaceutical help ???
NO ONE…male or female looks like that without some serious steroid consumption….I don’t care how they deny it: it isn’t possible…
mia on March 07 at 4:55 p.m.
Liz, I was thinking the same thing. I’m sure she worked hard to get that body, but I think she had to have some “help” as well.
Charlie on March 07 at 6:14 p.m.
I have a question, as sarcastic as it might be. What would Iris look like in an evening gown and heels?
Sam on March 07 at 6:25 p.m.
Like this Charlie:

(Sidebar: Since just back to the blog I just realize that we can’t use HTML. God I hate this new design even more than before. Yay for featureless blogging!)
Escapee on March 07 at 7:50 p.m.
Testosterone injections, perhaps? In her quest for perfection, she ends up not looking like a member of the human race…she almost looks like a comic-book hero.
Charlie on March 07 at 9:18 p.m.
Thanks Sam. I hope I don’t dream about this tonight or ever. A little muscle definition is nice and I’ll leave it there..
Kage_Mann on March 07 at 9:31 p.m.
What guy would want to date a woman, who looked like she could kick some a$$? Too many muscles showing on a woman looks gross to me.I liked Shelley Beattie who onced placed third at a Ms.Olympia and she played on a game show.
Cindy_H on March 07 at 10:15 p.m.
My husband and son just looked at this photo.
Son: Ahhhh! I’m gonna have nightmares.
Husband: I’d rather date Arnold.
Stickman on March 08 at 6:58 p.m.
I don’t know about dating Arnold Cindy, but to each his own. I like the softer side of women, not the gross side.
JaneQCitizen on March 08 at 7:09 p.m.
not that I have personal experience with elite body building but you have to admire the artistry and dedication of sculpting the human body with diet and exercise.
I also know that Iris is pumped up and posing for competition in this photo and in street clothes on a regular non-competition day I bet she looks fit and muscular but not freakish.
