DFO: DanG Joshes Mike Over Joe

Councilman Mike Kennedy can’t do a thing right, as far as Dan Gookin and his OpenCdA.com playmates are concerned. In a recent post, Gookin slammed Kennedy for leaving his seat for coffee during the March 3 council meeting, not once but twice. Harrumphed Gookin: “What message does that send us regarding his attentiveness and focus, not to mention his discipline?” Tongue firmly cheeked, Mike responded to Gookin’s broadside by informing Huckleberries Online that he had “an elaborate catheter and drainage system” installed under his desk in the council room. “It was expensive,” joked Kennedy. “but it allows me (with my admittedly small bladder) to drink more coffee than any small army could consume without having to get up and use the bathroom, thus ensuring I don’t fall asleep.” Alas, Mike continued in jest, the engineering department installed a flawed system. His internal intake works don’t have the same capacity as the discharge system. So Mike has to fetch coffee constantly to ensure the in-to-out system is balanced/DFO, SR Handle Extra. More here.

Question: Which OpenCDA.com activists or allies do you think will run for the CDA council this year? Will one of them run against Sandi Bloem for mayor?

Could be a combination of one or more vying for Mike or Sandi’s spot. That won’t stop this self confessed Republican from participating in a “voting for Mike Kennedy” or “voting for Sandi Bloem” spot in the local paper. Can I make it official now that JIMMYMAC will be gladly supporting both candidates?

  • Stickman on March 15 at 8:24 a.m.

I would gladly support them both as well.

    JIMMYMAC, count me IN.

I bet Gookin, maybe Souza. Guaranteed i won’t be voting in their favor .

I am told the Dan Gookin is running for mayor.

I hope to harass Mr. Kennedy as much as possible in the upcoming election cycle from my seat afar. Good times.

I’m looking forward to this election cycle. DFO, I know Sandi Bloem is planning another run, and I suspect Mike Kennedy is running, but do we know if Woody and Goodlander are running?

As for who will run against them…here is the 2007 line up. It’s preety good bet a couple of them will take another stab at it:

I wonder when the candidate’s filing deadline is? I’ll have to go look that up…

  • Bent on March 15 at 10:43 a.m.

It looks like the candidate filing period for city elections will be from August 24th to Sept. 4th this year.

In order to beat these incumbents, however, the candidates should already be raising money and the campaigns should be starting any time now…

Keep your eyes peeled for issue development…

DanG has said many times that he will “keep his promise” to his past supporters and run again for city council. He actually said at one point during last fall’s NIC board elections that the reason he wasn’t running for a board position was because he was running again for city council.

Mary won’t run, IMO. She’s carved out a nice spot for herself as town gadfly and wouldn’t want to give back all that CdA Press ink.

What will be interesting to watch for is which seat DanG runs for. If all three incumbents runs, who will he choose to go head-to-head with, Kennedy? Not likely, although I suspect Mike would relish the opportunity to go mano-y-mano against the Gookinator. My bet is he’d go at Deanna, who he sees as the weeker candidate…

He may surprise us, though, and run for mayor. Wouldn’t that be fun???

Maybe Mr. Gookin will come by sometime to change my mind in a sense about the upcoming race. I love MikeK because I have met him, as with the Mayor, who I have met several times and think she perfect for this town. But, I am just a simple stick maker and take people for who they are. The upcoming race will be interesting, though I think the outcome is already decided.

I’d like to see Souza get her lunch handed to her if she ran against Sandi Bloem. It would be a slaughter.

AH, have so enjoyed HBO lately. Such genteel
behavior between posters showing each other
respect with dignity. Sure hope the upcoming
firestorm, AKA local elections, will not herald
the return of political slice and dice that was
so common during the national election timeframe.

Joker, I’d like to see your lunch get handed to you.

    Stickman, only votes for who he’s met,now that’s open-mindedness?

  • Kage_Mann on March 15 at 9:06 p.m.

The sad part about this thread is DFO could have been friends with DanG and friends but, he blew it. ;-p

  • cantyoureadthesigns on March 15 at 10:27 p.m.

Yes, I’m SO crying over Goosechase Gookin’s and DFO’s personal fallout, as is DFO and the world. Coulda, woulda, shoulda…

Could you make a more meaningless comment, Kage?
