A juror was dismissed this morning from the first-degree murder trial of Shellye Stark after disclosures that he had improperly discussed the case during a social gathering last week, including comments about one of the prosecutors’ apparent struggle to conceal his baldness. Mike Cathcart acknowledged the discussion when questioned today by Spokane Superior Court Judge Tari Eitzen, and was removed from the jury without objection from the prosecution or the defense. He was replaced by one of the three alternates who have been present each day of the trial/Meghann M. Cuniff, SR. More here.
Question: What do you think of guys who try “comb overs” to hide baldness?

I have always thought that baldness wasn’t the curse some think it is. Heck, some young people nowadays are shaving their heads. It makes more sense to shave it all, ala “The Bone,” than to do a comb over. A comb over send a message that you are defensive and insecure.

I have to agree with Herb. Men who do comb overs lack something. You ain’t hiding that solar panel on top of your head.

My forehead is growing, but that’s Ok. It’s gradule enough that it doesn’t shock me until I look at old pictures. My kids think it’s funny; they say I have boat docks because my bangs (sp?) are receeding on both sides of my forehead, but the center is not receeding as quickly. I think it’s from wearing a hardhat for most of my young adulthood.

Totally agree with Herb there. But then that may be because my hubby shaved his head rather than try various lame looking attempts to hide the baldness. Looks great on him!!!

“one of the prosecutors’ apparent struggle to conceal his baldness”
It’s a good thing the jurors didn’t comment on any other coverup of the prosecutor.
They might have ended up with a hung jury. :)

Wow.. that’s an easy way to get out of jury duty. I’ll have to try that next time, instead of my usual rant about how I think we should re-introduce the firing squad on first offenses, and that I think everyone should be issued a fifth of whiskey and a revolver at age 18 just to weed out the stupid. I get kicked out EVERY time for those comments.

…and as far as comb-over’s go…well, I don’t see the point. It’s like trying to hide an elephant with a ribbon. We can all still see that it’s there.. just live with it…

Since I was on this particular jury panel, I am really surprised this guy went to a social gathering at all. We were admonished repeatedly and seriously to not talk to anyone, not read the paper, not listen to the news, and not check it out on the internet. I went so far as to not blog at all until the jury was picked and I wasn’t even close to being on the jury.
