I don’t care the forum, for Idaho to win a post-season game is great. Now, it’s on to Pacific. What a great story, with the Verlin twin brothers facing off.

It reminds me of the legendary Donny Haynes (father of Judge Lansing Haynes) who began his career at Kellogg by winning its last State big-school championship in 1963. The story goes that later when Donny coached at Centennial High in Boise he happened to have twin brothers on his squad. Apparently, the better player of the two fouled out in a close game. So, Donny did what any competitive guy would do - he had the lesser twin give up his jersey to the one who’d fouled out. As they say in the Guinness commercials: “Brilliant!”

Except of course Coach Haynes ploy was found out. Game forfeited, coach suspended. Darn it.

In the end, it just shows: you can take the coach out of Kellogg but you can’t take Kellogg out of the coach! :)

I listened to the game on the radio, and it was quite a nailbiter. Hopefully the Vandals keep playing well in the tourney :D

Is Bob Curtis still broadcasting Vandal Basketball? If not, I’ll bet he wishes he could’ve broadcast this one. Go Vandals…

Bob Curtis is not calling the men’s games anymore. Evan Ellis is. Not a huge fan of him though.
