Dmitri Goodson, a freshman, is very quick, a lock-down defender, and has shown flashes of a solid offensive game when he’s been given the green light. This guy is going to be very, very good for us.

The second before he took that shot, all I could think about was Blake Stepp’s shot that would have won the Arizona game. Those shots, while moving and under tremendous pressure, are a lot harder than they look.

Looking ahead to next year, since I’m not sure they can beat UNC, the Zags will be super with Goodson on the point. Add in Daye and Gray sharp-shooting the 3’s and my prediction for WCC Player of the Year, Bouldin leading the scoring, they’ll be very good.

They need to find a big guy to clog the center and grab a few rebounds, but other than that, they’ll be tough to beat next year.

Bouldin should be scary good next year. He’s the best passer on the team, by far.

Sacre is a load underneath. Foster will be a year older and the biggest hoops player I’ve seen in a long time. Poling is another 7-footer. They could be very solid in the middle. Bol Kong, while not a center, is also going to be a very interesting addition.

Now if only Austin Daye would grow up and stop the antics when he is called for a foul. Notice that no one else on the team carries on like that. They just walk away and get ready to continue the game. Fouls are a part of the package along with referees sometimes making errors. Daye’s foul on the three point shot yesterday was obvious before the slow motion replay.

Daye commits a lot of lazy defense fouls. That’s exactly what the foul on the 3 was—he was not in position. He tends to rely on his length, and then when he’s not long enough, he lunges and fouls.
