In Huckleberries Online news this morning: Liz did a swell job as a volunteer DJ last night for River 99.9, according to several Merry Hucksters who tuned in. You’ll find a link to Bent’s new blog below (and on my blogroll Monday). You’ll also see OrangeTV’s Handle Extra column below re: the 1971 hippy invasion of Farragut Park. (You should use that as a reminder that the new, improved Handle Extra is in today’s newspaper and on the news racks.) In the Saturday poll, 22 of 48 respondents marked “liver and onions” as the worst dish served to them as a child by their parents, easily beating the six other choices. As for me … I’m looking forward to seeing my sister-in-law and two nephews baptized today at Coeur d’Alene Bible. And your Sunday Wild Card is in play …

Liver and onions if prepared properly is good eats. Soak in milk for and hour or two, wash, dredge in flour, pan fry over medium heat for about a minute on each side, smother in sauted onions and chow down.
Soaking in milk removes much of the bitterness. Cook till pink in the center.

there is absolutely nothing that could be done to liver to make it taste good in my opinion…

I was baptized on March 17th… do you remember your Baptism day?

Ah, Liver & Onions….Great eating… Charlie has THE
killer method of preparation,Except cook a little longer
until the pink center is just barely visible. Soaking in
milk for several hours is the KEY….Also, use Vidalia
sweat onions.

I’ve never had liver and onions but I’m willing to try it. If someone cooks it well I’ll be more than willing to try it at some point if you’re willing to cook it for me. But honestly I’d rather have someone who spoils people with their version of it rather than the lower method.
Last weekend I tried frog legs for the first time. Not too bad.
I’ll try anything, at least once. Except for meth, of course. ;)

OT: Pecky. I thought your Priest Lake map was pretty neat when DFO put it up last week. I sent it to some friends of mine that are Priest Lake people. They appreciated receiving it and said they knew you. Butch and Michelle from Bellevue?

Yep Sam, nothing better than a mess of fresh frog legs. Now that’s some really good eattin’.
I love liver and onions. I grew up in a family that lived off the good old “Down Home Cooking”. The Milk, Flour, (I prefer bread crumbs) and any sweet onion makes for a fine meal. Although I do prefer my liver well done!
:-)

Sam: I like your outlook, except for trying anything that has to do with meat.

This just off of the Seattle PI on line:
BUTTE, Mont. — A small plane - possibly carrying children on a ski trip - crashed Sunday as it approached the Butte airport, killing 14 to 17 people aboard, a federal official said. The single engine turboprop nose-dived into a cemetery 500 feet from its destination.

Whilst a dormie at the University of Idaho, I would opt for the Liver and Onions when it was served. It came with a baked potato. By accident, I put some sour cream on the liver, and found out that the liver became bearable when slathered with it. That backs up the theory that if you cover up your food with enough gunk, you can eat almost anything. I said ‘almost’.
