In the news this morning: Gonzaga’s Lady Zags will tip off with No. 15 Pitt at 6:30 p.m. (ESPN2) in the second round of their NCAA tournament here. UI and Pacific will meet at 7 tonight in the second round of the CIT tournament here. Gay Congressman Barney Frank calls Justice Anthonin Scalia a “homophobe” here. The Dow Jones gained almost 500 points here. David Letterman has married his long-time girlfriend here. And the Monday Wild Card remains in play …

So another woman, who wants to become a man, gets pregnant. Why is that news? It is certainly sensational because this woman is a transexual, but big whoop…

I read with great interest the story by Rich Roesler about the Cheney-Coulee railroad. It really was only half the story. I wondered, OK, between Cheney and Coulee City, lies a lot of grain needing shipment. Then I wondered … Neither Cheney, nor Coulee city are exactly shipping ports. It looks from what was written, that we have a railroad starting from nowhere and ending nowhere. Shouldn’t we get to learn from where/to where and how?

I don’t know if anyone ‘cept Mama JD will be interested in this but…I got my Billy Joel/Elton John FACE TO FACE TOUR tickets this morning for Seattle. 12 rows on floor from stage. I’ve heard their show is one helluva good time.

The financial markets were up a great deal today. Dow up 497 and the Nas was up 98. Huge moves for both the indexes. The primary reason was that Geithner released his plan to absorb the toxic assets held by the banks. It looks to be a very workable tool and Geithner did a good job, imo. This is the plan the market had been waiting for. Sales for previously owned homes spiked up more than expected and that helped move the market.

Bent: I also have three brown bottles that belong to you, though I know they will end up in your hands come this upcoming event. Let’s keep it secret, but I know many will want to come, As I would. It will be a splendid event, as you and I have what some may want. Mainly sticks and stones and a brew to die for. Life is simple, let’s keep it that way.
