In Olympia, bureau chief Rich Roesler reports that the “Think Outside the Bottle” campaign has come to Washington to urge Gov. Chris Gregoire to stop buying bottled water. Why? Plastic bottles clog landfills. You can read Rich’s report here.
Question: How often do you drink bottled water? Do you consider the environmental ramifications when you do?

I try to avoid bottled water whenever possible and so does the rest of my family.
Sodas…well, I could probably do better in that department…

I rarely buy bottled water. When I do, I use the bottle over and over and over and over again in an attempt to minimize waste.
I think some clarification about which types of plastics can be recycled and which types cannot would be helpful when consumers make decisions about which bottled water to buy.

Is this Earth Day leftovers?
I use bottled water all the time. I have a bottle, I fill it with water and drink.

I have a bottle here at my desk that I’ve used about 150 times. It’s silly to pay for water in a bottle.

I have six bottles that I have kept, never buying any more. I fill them 3/4 of the way with water and freeze them - and then when we go on road trips or to a car show, I toss them into the cooler and they are nice and cold when you want them - and so is everything else.

Someone on the radio said it’s hypocritical to support a more “Green” lifestyle whilst drinking bottled water. On the other side, a poll concerning water preference was conducted some time ago, and people said they thought New York City Tap Water tasted better than bottled water. I also tend to use plastic bottles over and over again.

I never use plastic bottled liquids of any kind, and if I were King, I would ban all non-REUSABLE containers of any kind.
There is no reason for hundreds of different kinds of non-recyclable, non re-usable containers for food.

I buy bottled water on occasion, usually if I am out somewhere and am thirsty and I don’t want soda. I can’t stand Moscow city water, so I bring water in from home in a 2 liter bottle I keep and refill my Rubbermaid water bottle I keep at work.
Any plastics I have go to the recycling center. The only ones that hit the landfill are ones that can’t be recycled or ones that had been in the fridge long enough for the contents to achieve sentience and are demanding nationhood :D

I rarely ever drink it, and the environmental ramifications are my number one reason why not.
That said, I did have some bottled water today… here I sit, commenting from beautiful Miami, FL! Can’t say it’s my kind of town, but I’m here for a Spring Break Habitat for Humanity trip, and it’s been a good week.
Now back to four more days of no wifi…

Generally, the public or well water around here is quite clean and tasty. Use a stainless steel lined water bottle, no plastic chemical taste.
