Spokane Valley firefighters work to extinguish a house fire at Flora and Valleyway this morning. The private residence was destroyed in the morning fire that sent a pall of smoke over the area. Story here. (Christopher Anderson/Spokesman-Review)
Question: Have you lost a pet in an accidental way (i.e., hit by car, fire, etc.)?

When we were kids, our old family dog “went to live on a farm”
When my grandmother told me he had really been put down, I was mortified. I threw a temper tantrum of all temper tantrums and didn’t speak to my mother for days.
I found out when I was older, he really *did* go live on the farm with a man my mom worked with because we didn’t really have a good sized yard for him and she couldn’t take care of him and us three kids on her own.

This is a comment about the NNU cancellation.
I cannot believe the way the media and the public are reacting to this concern. These are the same people (media) who told the public to buy duct tape and water for Y2k and the same people who actually ran out and did it. I actually heard of a business that is asking for legal advice about closing its doors if an employee is suspected of contracting the virus.
When, oh when, are Americans going to stop reacting and start being leaders again? Why is it so easy for Americans to be led around by our fears? Why don’t we demand facts AND why don’t we act only upon those and not the anecdotal stories and fearmongering that has consumed us?
I feel like giving every single one of my fellow Americans a wake up slap in the face! Come out from under your beds, stand up and start living again.

Sadly yes…..I can only imagine the grief these folks feel for the loss of their beloved pets. You know when someone has FIVE pets, that they are like children to them. So sad : (

…and now that I’ve read the whole story I see they have much more than five. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My Dad ran over Butterscotch, my cat.
I was four at the time, and ran around the neighborhood crying, “Daddy killed him, Daddy killed him!”
After the uproar settled down, I got sent to my room! I learned at a tender age, there is no justice in this life.
