In this Oct. 9, 2002, file photo, the hood ornament of a 1967 Pontiac GTO in Sturtevant, Wis., is shown. The Pontiac GTO is considered by many to be the first true muscle car. General Motors announced it is killing off Pontiac, the maker of impressively big and noisy cars that, when it came to being immortalized in song and movies, once outdid everybody else. Question: Did you ever own a muscle car?
Stickman on May 02 at 10:24 a.m.
Yes, a few of them. I grew up in that era, when those cars were king. I wish I would have kept a few of them, now they worth small fortunes.

Stickman. I had a '64 GTO last year that was like showroom new condition. I sold it for $60,000. You are right, they are worth small fortunes. Shelby mustangs typically sell for well over a hundred grand, even in this economy. Big block mid year Corvettes bring similar bucks.

I never had a muscle car, but dated guys who did! Have always loved those cars.
My brother-in-law has a Shelby Convertible - and has the glove box signed by Carrol Shelby himself - it is a beaut….
BTW - I now have my part of historical Pontiac. If you see a Solstice running around today it might be Me!

Um. I had a red 1972-ish Pontiac LeMans.
Is that a muscle car?
What is a muscle car, anyway?

Silly Cindy, you know it's a car being driven by a muscle man like me ;o)

Last I saw, you were zipping off on a shiny red scooter :-)
Perhaps, that's your muscle Moped?

Thanks for the visit today Don, as always a pleasure. As I graduated in 65'. plenty of those types of cars were around, and fairly cheap. I had a 63' Corvette that I loved, and many more that we only see in car shows and showrooms. The GTO was always a favorite, and very popular back in the day.

Cindy I had a 70 something Lemans too! It was red with a black top and I had it in High School. 2 door. Loved that car.

Thanks, Don.
My lack of car/motorcycle knowledge is appalling.
All I know is I want a pink one just like yours.
They do make pink Harleys, don't they?
Me: mine was a solid red two-door with white vinyl seats. Whoa, baby, were those seats hot in the summer! My husband and I drove that thing all the way two Disneyland and back. The poor old girl suffered vapor-lock just outside of Williams and nearly expired, but we managed to revive her. It was our last hurrah before we started having babies.

Like Stickman, I too grew up during the Muscle
Car Era. Today I wish I had just one of these
that I owned back then.
58' Impale 348, 3duces & 4speed
67' Camero
69' Camero
69' Buick Sportwagon400
70' Buick GS350
71' Buick GS 455
72' Buick GSX 455 Stage 1
Back then nobody dreamed they would be worth
a small fortune……Just drove them and had fun.

If you own a goat, cherish it. It was a classic.

(trying to shake Mental Image of Pink Harleys…..ack)…Yeah, I had a muscle car once. It was a Chevy Chevette. It had as much muscle power as any gas-powered Lawn Mower…the type of Mower You Push, that is. It's possible the 'Rider' Lawn Mowers had more power than the Chevette, which is basically an oversized Tuna Can On Wheels.

If that's a Harley Don, my eyes must be deceiving me. I think Cindy would look good on a pink one of those. EagleKeeper, you had lots of great Buicks from those days. I had a 68' Camaro with a 427, hard to handle and I got a few tickets so I sold it. That car was fast. We just drove them and had fun like you said.

Mechanic Man has several muscle cars in various stages of workability. He gathers parts for them - right now his baby is a 55 Dodge Coronet, but he also has a 70 Dodge Challenger and a 72 Dodge Charger. I have learned that Dodge is the king pin. I love the little 63 Thunderbird hard top convertible - pink with white interior. Other than that, all I know about cars is that they are a color. I'll describe to MM the car that just cut me off as “the blue car” which drives him totally nutso, rolling eyes, gagging, choking.

I never owned a manly muscle car. Ever. I never desired that sort of thing. I'm just not a motorhead…and frankly, couldn't care less that Pontiac is gone.
But hey, that's me. I'm a nerd. All I want is my little Mini with the Union Jack on top and a kickin' stereo. I've no need for speed.
