Parting Shot — 5/5/09

In this photo released by China’s Xinhua News Agency, a dog feeds some of its 15 puppies at its owner’s home in Huai’an city, east China’s Jiangsu province on Tuesday. The dog gave birth to 15 puppies two weeks ago and all of the doggies survived, giving their owner a surprising delight, Xinhua said. (AP Photo/Xinhua, Xu Changzheng)

This celebration will last only until the owner has to start feeding them … Or they become feed. I’ve heard rumors as to what is in Chinese food, and as I understand it, dog meat is a staple. (YuK)

Back in my college days….my then boyfriend and I were out celebrating the fourth of July. We came home to 11 brand new puppies and a very tired dog. 10 of them made it, but had to be feed because little Kodi couldn’t feed all of them. Jerry set his alarm and got up every three hours to make batches of special puppy food for “his” pups. This went on for weeks!

Adoption time came and the interviews began. That’s right, interviews. You didn’t just get one of these fluff balls. Jerry considered it his duty to be sure that each and every pup went to a home where the people were able to properly care for and love his dogs….this included visits to the prospective parents homes to make sure that they had fencing, were not too close to a highway, had clean living conditions, etc, etc, etc, Several got turned down. I wish more people had that sense of responsiblity when it comes to their pets.

Fishwife, in the southern part of China people do eat dog meat. The fur is also used as clothing.
