CdA Among Top Performing Cities

Item: Cd’A ranked among top performing cities: City earns high marks in job creation, economic growth/Rick Thomas, CdA Press

More Info: The Coeur d’Alene Metropolitan Statistical Area jumped into second in the Milken Institute/Greenstreet Real Estate Partners Best Performing Cities Index for 2008, up from sixth in 2007. The index ranks U.S. metropolitan areas by how well they are creating and sustaining jobs and economic growth. The components include job, wage and salary and technology growth.

Question: Anti-growth elements in the community continue to harp that urban renewal efforts aren’t producing many quality jobs. Isn’t this ranking proof that they’re wrong — as usual?

    I’d have agree with “the harpies”. There are not enough jobs in our area that pay more than minimum wage.

    Do those job numbers include the 250 “created” by the homeowner rip off company, Apply 2 Save?

    From Aug 2008:

    “This company fits the profile for predatory mitigation companies, and exhibits consumer protection warning signs such as:

    An upfront payment is required before any work is completed- without a written contract explicitly stating their verbal promises;
    An information release authorization is required- without a signed contract for services rendered in return;
    Strict advise is given to cease ALL contact with the lender- which is to transpire from that point forward ONLY by means of and through the negotiator- at the risk of breaking the agreement;
    (Unreasonable and impossible) Promises are made pertaining to potential outcome of negotiations;”

    And Milkin and his ilk, he was the ringleader who went to jail, lead the junk bond “revolution” which laid the foundation for much of the financial meltdown now occurring. Would that we’d learn from mistakes, but then Milkin is a brilliant salesperson, in the classic “I never make any mistakes” model.

    I had a friend that worked at Apply2Save, thank goodness she was able to find another job and quit that horrible place.
