JeanieS: I am building my “beach box” as we write all of this. I’m headed to the
family beach home in Oregon at the end of June. A Kindle would be easy
(but expensive). But there is something about real books, heavy in your
hand. My box is pretty full - the full series of Janet Evanovich’s
Stephanie Plum books (for the third reading), inspirational books,
mysteries, Stephen King’s The Stand (to be read on the beach in
daylight), and several DVD’s for mindless enjoyment.
Question: What books would you put in your “beach box” for an end-of-June vacation?

That sounds soooo wonderful!!! I would take a couple of books by Jonathan Kellerman, I’m trying to read all of them. I love Kaye Gibbons, and would take “Charms for the Easy Life”, my favorite of hers. Craig Lesley, my all time favorite author, wrote “Riversong” and “Winterkill”, both set in Oregon, so they would be good to read on an Oregon beach. Can I go with you??

Have enjoyed any great mystery stories, some authors, Laurie King, John Sandford, Jonathan Kellerman, Faye Kellerman to name a few. Have usually had to take at least 12 books for a 2 week vacation. However, since I fly to destinations I’ve had to go to a Kindle. The one bag, 50 lbs. weight limit has been awful for my reading enjoyment. The problem now is that with a Kindle, I can read the books so much faster. So, I need more to fill it. Could be costly, but I’ve changed to some of the old classics, Jane Austin, Charles Dickens, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle since they are free to download.

Well, of course some James Patterson, Harold Coben, and definitely Ann Rule. (I too love the Stephanie Plum series, so hilarious!)
Add a few others like the start of the Harold Potter Series, a Dick Francis Novel. I could keep going! A good auto biography is always great too!
I am so jealous of your end of June vacation. Relax and enjoy! :)
