North Idaho Smacked 2X On TV Show

From newsroom buddy Meghann Cuniff (right, in photo below w/Sam & Lovely Kate): North Idaho had not one but TWO mentions on the fine television show “Most Daring: Senior Smackdowns” on the cable channel Tru TV yesterday. I was in the waiting room at the downtown Spokane Les Schwab when dash cam footage from Post Falls came on the TV screen. An elderly man had been pulled over for speeding (he said he was going 45; officer clocked him at 52) and lit into the officer with a mouthful of profanity that’s impossible to capture here. He screamed that he just wanted to go to the store and got out of the vehicle at one point, only to be ordered back inside. Remarkably, the officer let him go with a warning. The VERY NEXT clip was a police chase in Coeur d’Alene involving three cop cars and a 75-year-old driver. An officer can be heard yelling “Stop your vehicle! Stop your vehicle before you kill somebody!” (More of the story below)

The footage includes the man driving north on southbound Highway 95, playing chicken with a police cruiser, and ramming a cruiser before, as the very dramatic announcer put it, “squads on three sides crush his vehicle like a vice.” The cops drag the guy out of his car, and the announcer promises that the “wave of destruction that whipped through the city” won’t soon be forgotten, “especially because it was 75 years in the making.”

A brief search through our archives leads me to believe the Coeur d’Alene footage is of this incident from last July/Meghann M. Cuniff, SR (special to Huckleberries Online)

“Are Seasoned Citizens you know angry people?”

No.. but lately a disproportionate number of conservatives that I meet are in a constant state of being pissed about something. I can’t quite pinpoint it..

I watched that chase end on Ramsey. I was sitting at the light and cop cars were everywhere blocking the intersection. He jumped the median and was sandwiched into the other curb with cops running over the top of his car to get him out.
