Cis: When Bugs Crawl Out Of Salads

Cis: Red Lobster in CDA … a bug the size of my thumb nail crawled out of the salad….. I got ahold of the gal and she said. oh.. that was it … she asked if she could get me something else. I told her no, as it took me 10 minutes to get ahold of her, and my husband had finished over half of his meal … and by that time, I had lost my appetite. She brought the bill, and said, oh, I didn’t charge for your meal … well, duh …. I didn’t get to eat it.

Question: Do you hesitate to send your meal — or part of your meal — back, if there’s something wrong with it (i.e., too cold, meat isn’t cook to your instructions, etc.)? Or do you grin and eat it?

Us Brits are famous for complaining when what we pay for with our hard earned cash aint up to scratch :)

Wow, Cis, I had the same experience at Red Lobster, when it first opened. My salad bug was a grasshopper… one of those green ones, which blended in very nicely with the lettuce. If that thing hadn’t moved on my fork, I would have eaten him.

When it moved, it totally freaked me out. The waitress basically said, “It happens…”

I don’t hesitate but my wife won’t return a meal or product that is not what was ordered. I’ll gladly pay for what is ordered.

Reb Lobster here in town is the worst.
I’ll return or send back something if it’s way overboard but other than that I can handle just about any basic mistake.
I figure if I only ate 3 meals a day for my entire life and say I live to be 75, well that’s 82,125 square meals in a lifetime.
It would be completely idiotic and indeed unreasonable to believe that they all will be Julia Childes quality.
    Eat it and move on.

Red Lobster is the most overrated restaurant chain in America. Outrageously overpriced, poor service and mediocre food. Except those cheese bisquits. Love those. I’ve only eaten at the Coeur d’Alene RL twice … and I have no plans on returning.

A lot of “Bug” postings recently…must be a sociological thing, I guess. So I’ll offer something here: On the “Ram” album (1971) by Paul McCartney, the back cover photo features two Beetles procreating…McCartney’s way of communicating what he felt his fellow Beatles were doing to him.

if it is slight, I will over look it….but one time we were at the Pizza Hut here in Ponderay, Id. and we sat down, they took their time getting our order. There were 2 other tables besides ourselves. We waited and waited, half hour goes by and another couple who came in shortly after us, got served. Finally one of the waitress went by and we asked what happen to our pizza. She said she would look, and I also asked about our drinks. I was wondering if the drinks on the counter were ours. She went over, asked and then brought them to us. I told her, you got to be kidding… the ice was melted just about all the way. She came back and told us, that our pizza has been sitting on the heater, they thought we were taking them out.
I told her we would take it home, I had enough. My husband goes over to get the pizza, as I am walking up, I heard the manager say, well, because it was over an hour, it is free. My husband, said no, that is ok, we will pay for it…. I grabbed the pizza and said, the hell we will. And walked out with it. My husband told me later, that was embarrassing. I told him waiting for an hour or more was worse.
