HBO Poll Sez … Bob Nonini

In the HBO Poll Thursday, a plurality of 47% (50 of 107) believes the biggest loser in the never-ending 2009 Idaho Legislature session is House Education Chairman Bob Nonini, R-Post Falls, followed by Gov. Butch Otter @ 31% (33 of 107). In a distant third is House Speaker Lawerence Denney @ 8% (9 of 107). “Other” is the pick of 12% (13 of 107).

Hmm. I hope this will translate into someone running against him. Hopefully two people, one in the primary and one in the general. And while I think the House leadership were the bad guys, I still think this session makes Otter more vulnerable than it does them or the great Nonini.

There are lots of losers as I said yesterday:

This is a tricky one as there are different kinds of losers who’ve lost different things. The person that lost the most by compromising to get things done is Otter. He’s down to getting around $50 million for roads when he came into this session looking for close to $200 million.

They may have won this battle, but I think the folks that will lose the war are Moyle and Denney. Their hard line conservativism is going to end up costing the people of Idaho more when we finally do address the road problem. Was it Jack Riggs that said we should have done this when I was in the senate ten years ago?

Representative Nonini is a loser for acting the most like a loser with his disparaging comments about teachers and failing to show up to present a bill he was the sponsor of when it came over to the senate.

As a teacher, I voted for Nonini.
