Eagle Keeper: Beware Of Identity Theft

Eagle Keeper: I’ll use this wild card to throw out a warning to all you Hucksters. Identity theft is a very fast growing threat to all of us. When you use your debit/credit cards to pay for services/items, check the card number listed on the receipt. The receipt should NOT have the complete card number but only the last four digits. Some small business have not upgrade their software to show the last four digits only. This situation is a thief’s delight…. :( I had this happen this morning at Down-the-Street Restaurant in Post Falls. Be warned.

Question: How concerned are you about identity theft?

I’m concerned enough to be very careful and I thank Eagle Keeper for this info.

Well, kind of surprised at the “head in the sand”
attitude toward identify theft I see from the lack
of response to this thread. True, we’re not in a
huge metro area but identify theft does happen
here and you could be next…you were warned.

Sorry, None. If they want me, come and get it.

Well Stickman, I hope they don’t want you. Your too
nice a guy to be thumped on the head with one
    of your sticks……… :)

For anyone that is really concerned about identity theft, I subscribe to LIfeLock. That is a service designed to protect you. On TV, he is the guy that drives around with his soc sec number on the side of his RV. They are very thorough and provide a pretty good service, imo. And, they guarantee you up to a milion bucks.

Identity theft protection is offered through most banks. They contract companies to provide the protection. At least the banks have screened the identity theft protection company. I think there are a lot of scam identity theft protection companies out there. No comment about Lifelock. they sure do a lot of advertising.
