HBO’s Inland Northwest — 5/12/09

Travel promotion ads created for Montana feature the idea “There’s Nothing Here.” This photo of Glacier National Park is part of that campaign. More here.

well, aside from the scenery and the incredible Thai food in Missoula, I’d have to say the fact that there are very few people and wide open spaces.
So why the hell are they trying to change that by luring them all there??? Unless they plan on a two pronged approach: “have a nice visit: now go home”?

When I finally hit the border into NoDak.Idaho.

That is a brutal state to travel across.

Just about everything west of Billings is awesome. Bozeman is my favorite MT city. Flathead Lake and Glacier are wonderful places to visit.

Liz, states like MT and ID rely heavily on tourism. While some may stay, more than likely they’ll just drop their dough in the local economy and head home. While certainly not a replacement for the loss of natural resource jobs in rural areas, it provides at least some economic opportunity for the more remote parts of our states.

Everything in Montana appeals to me - was born there and it truely is my home. I LOVE that photo. We already made our yearly reservations to stay at the Many Glacier hotel over Labor Day weekend - we’ll do the hike to Grinnell Glacier this time.

I thought they were referring to the ever-shrinking glaciers.

I still call Montana home despite having lived in many states and oversees. It is indeed vast and the scenery is varied and stunning. You can easily escape into the wilderness and be the only soul for miles…and miles…and miles. It’s that sense of “oneness with God &/or nature” that so many people yearn for, and the reason that so many come to visit Montana.

One USFS employee and just about everything else although I wish we could give Bigfork and CDA a makeover.

What about Montana appeals to me? Well, it’s certainly not BUTTE.
