Huckleberries was told that the funeral for shooting victim Tim Wolfe, 21, of Worley, was so packed that the service was delayed for an hour because people kept arriving. The open-casket service was held at Plummer Middle School, with burial at Desmet, then dinner at Worley Long house. More tomorrow. Now, I’ll replay the Wild Card …

Taking bets on how long the new high end, adults only, dress code, Italian restaurant will survive in “dog town”. LOL

Looks like Chrysler wants to close two North Idaho dealerships. Ambassador Auto in Moscow and Taylor-Parker in Sandpoint are on the closure list.
Also sounds like Chrysler wants them closed by June 6th. That’s quick. Why the rush?

If I may be immodest for a second, in the past 3 years I have taken 24 exams, written 2 papers, 6 memos, 3 briefs, 8 bench memos (for a judicial externship), and given 3 oral arguments, 4 presentations, and spent countless hours sitting in class, reading, and generally dreading the Socratic method - but today, it is over, I am done with law school.
Through out it all, HBO has been a pleasant distraction, a momentary respite from my studies, and a procrastination crutch. I have appreciated it, even during the times when I thought the majority of posters on this site were nuts. Thanks.

Uh, your welcome?
Congratulations and good luck my friend. You’ll find that the desire for distraction, respite, and procrastination will not abate. So my advice is to commence drinking heavily. Right now. What are you waiting for? ;-)

Oh man. Too true! Cuts like a knife.

I know everyone had a collective head scratch when the Dirkster put the peregrine falcon on Idaho’s version of the quarter but removing it from the endangered species list is a success story. My friend Tyler Nelson, Morley’s son, says these aerial hunters require a vertical environment to nest. Downtown Boise fits the bill and nesting pairs were introduced as part of the recovery effort. They’ve been great for keeping our pigeon population in check. They get very noisy after the chicks hatch. Its great to stroll downtown and hear the cries of these raptors. They set up a live cam (like your duck cam) to watch one nesting pair sitting on four eggs that are about to pop any minute. Check the archive footage for food exchanges.

I seem to have too many dull moments at work lately and it makes me do things like check out the CDA Press comments.
I was honored in an odd way to find that someone posted this under my name (sorta) responding to an anti-gun control letter written by “Dortha”:
OTV wrote on May 12, 2009 7:38 PM:
” Oh sweet cheeks! I love the name Dortha. It is so HP Lovecraft meets Freddy Mercury, darling. Oh dear. And all the gun talk is making me positively mooshy. ”
Hilarious, but I didn’t write it. A few people wrote back about how much they loved Freddy Mercury, ha ha.
Must have been before they required registration…

Idawa, I offer both my congratulations and condolences- I mean, just think of all the lawyer jokes you’ll have to listen to throughout your career… :-)
Do you know yet what “side” you’ll be shooting for, once you pass the bar? (of course, I’m sure all us Hucksters have total faith you’ll get it on your first go)
Prosecution, private practice of some sort, be it criminal, corporate, whatever?
Just curious.

Looks like his bobness to me Orange.
When are you going to apply to law school Kendra? You probably know the system better than 90% of all first year law students.

The Natchez Trace Bridge in Williamson County, Tennessee is said to be a “vortex” and people come from all around to look, and to jump. I shot this video crossing the bridge yesterday. Things do get very strange around the middle of the bridge. Sorry for the shake, I was actually holding the camera out the window. This is ridiculous and pathetic. We’re 8+ years past the “overseas military ballots” problem in the Florida election fiasco. And still this isn’t fixed?
“Report: One-fourth of overseas votes go uncounted
By JIM ABRAMS – 1 day ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — One out of every four military personnel and other Americans living abroad may have been thwarted in their efforts to vote in the 2008 election because of communications and bureaucratic problems, according to a congressional report released Wednesday.
“Registration deadlines, notary requirements, lack of communication, mail delays, poor address information and state laws that put in place untenable mailing dates are all severe problems,” Sen. Charles Schumer, chairman of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, said at a hearing.

DFO/Ryan: I really like the “Latest from our blogs” feed on the left rail. I have a question about how you chose which ones to include since some seem to be outside the SR family (Down to Earth is an example). Maybe I’m missing some Cowles connection.
Ryan Pitts on May 14 at 3:15 p.m.
@Nick_Adams - Down To Earth (and the various blogs on that site) is a Spokesman-Review publication. That sidebar widget pulls in the latest posts from across all blogs on all Spokesman-Review sites, updated every 10 minutes.

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is doing an awful job trying to explain her knowledge (or lack thereof) of waterboarding and other “techniques” employed by the Bush administration. Conversely, Republicans are doing a masterful job dragging her into the debate, even though it’s irrelevant since the use of torture falls squarely on Bush and Cheney’s shoulders. Talk about the art of misdirection.
I know that Obama wants to move forward, but I don’t see any way that he avoids a special prosecutor or “truth squad”. Too bad.

Nice Idawa. My second oldest wrapped up at NIC today, too. She is excited… Only semester left and she transfers

thanks everyone for the well wishes - Kendra, I don’t know. Really, I haven’t decided. i currently have an offer at a firm that represents fire/police officers, but it is not where I want to spend my career. Right now, I’m just focused on the bar. :)

Bent: It’s nice to have a child that is excited by her future. I hope we always have that excitement in our lives. The future is before us, though many like me seem to think that all has passed us by. Have a few smiles for those that are following us, they need it. The future is in their hands.

Honey and I were talking tonight about how strange it is that we’re only one DUI arrest or whatever away from being naked in front of a strange jail guard and being told to bend over and expose ourselves in the most intimate ways, so they can see if we have any drugs. I’ve been there, on more occasions than I might like to admit, but Honey hasn’t. She’s read about it, though. She’s reading about strip searches right now in a Wally Lamb book. She thinks the searchers are sick. Maybe they are in this book - but those would be the rare ones. I told her most of the people who ever searched me that way never seemed to relish that part of the job. They seemed to like everything else better, in a way. It was just something they had to do because people are crazy, they’ll try to hide drugs in their bottoms or whatever and smuggle them into jail or the mental hospital or wherever. Somebody has to look. I actually kind of feel for those people. They’re probably not making enough money for a job like that.

I just come back into CDA today, with an injured eye.I scratched it at work and it does hurt. It’s hard trying to read a thread or type anything, even though I’m adapting to my injury.I’ll prolly take three ibuprofen until I see the doctor tomorrow. This is the second time I’ve had an injury to the eye and everything is blurry; the eye is tearing up bigtime.

congrats Idawa!!!
I applied to Gonzaga two years in a row and got rejected two years in a row.
I did remember how much I liked to write though, hammering out those essays…
I eventually tired of my husband sending me every lawyer joke that he could lay his hands on.
If/when I ever get employed by a radio station again (my original “Plan A” career) I can at least rejoice in the fact that this time around I have chosen a job that doesn’t have depositories of jokes composed about it. Pay sucks, though…
