Mom Takes Action Against Bully

Item: Mom taking action against son’s bully/KHQ

More Info: Spokane mom says her 10-year-old boy is being bullied at school and she’s not going to stand for it anymore. Miranda Swenson says her son, Mikey, has been attending Longfellow elementary school for a year and since the beginning of the year, another student has been harassing her son. Mikey tells KHQ it started with verbal taunts, which soon escalated into violence. He says the other student has gotten him into headlocks and punched him in the head and face and pushed him up against the wall.

Question: What would you do if your child was being bullied in school?

Sign him up for a karate class.

I’d feed him whatever Manny Ramirez is eating these days.

I’ll tell you what I did.
My thirdborn was bullied by a kid from 4th grade all the way to 7th. We did the usual and told him to tell school authorities, try to work it out, stand up for yourself, never throw the first punch, but make sure you throw the last one. Blah, blah, blah.
    Nothing seemed to work.
When he came home from a field trip with a black eye. I. WAS. DONE.
I took photos. Sent them to the principal of the private school he was enrolled in and let him know that any further instance wouid result in legal action.
Haven’t had a problem since. The kid has been suspended several times, but still seems to get in a lot of trouble. I know my own child’s mouth contributed to the problem, but there is never any reason for a child to get away with bullying.

Woe is to the bully who lays a hand on a Bent family member. My kids have been raised to handle themselves and they have been given permission to step in if a bully is taunting other as well. They have never had to fight as a result.

bless you parents who stood up for your kids. Mine told me that I either a)asked for it or b)was lying about it…

Stickman and Bent have the correct answer - prepare your children by giving them the self-confidence that they will need to succeed.

From experience, I’ll tell you the school system wont do a thing. All the so called anti-bully ‘experts’ offer the same lame and ineffective advice. And learning karate at stripmall dojo will take years. Check into The Total Bully Solution. Using some of the simple strategies he learned, my son was able to stop 6 months of name calling and harassment in about a week.
