As Cis pointed out, it’s actually been Tuesday— all day. Let’s not tell DFO.
Cindy’s right that I’m in full vacation mode. I have been since I sat for a hours on Cannon Beach in the shadow of Haystack Rock Saturday and Sunday. We spent the weekend on the Oregon Coast. And I put in four hours at Powell’s Book Store on Friday. It’s hard to go wrong with that combination. Toss in a viewing of the action thriller “Angels & Demons” and the company of two of my 3 favorite sweethearts — Mrs. O & Amy Dearest — and I had a wonderful time away these past five days. Now, I have to turn my thoughts toward the honey-do list. Which starts with planting the garden and a little interior painting. I’ll be in town the rest of the week. But I don’t return to work until June 1. Now, for the Monday Wild Card …

I planted a good part of my garden already. I sent away for a high wheel cultivator. Hope it gets here soon so that I can take it out to my berry and perennial garden. For anyone who doesn’t know what one is, it is an antique piece of equipment that has various attachments. One that breaks ground, one that plows, one that chops weeds, one that creates furrows for seeds. One reason for getting it, is that the rototiller I routinely use besides being heavy also tends to drift over rows I don’t want it getting into. So, if I can keep weeds and grass in check using an antique piece of equipment, I’ll be more than delighted.

Have people seen this clip of a conservative Chicago radio talk show host named Mancow who offered to be waterboarded? He lasted 3/4 of a gallon of water. He says it is “absolutely torture.”

Hey Arch_Druid, does that high wheel cultivator you mentioned look like the one on my blog? Sunny’s dad has an antique one, that works excellent. That thing has to be nearly 100 years old. Check it out:

Does anyone know of a NON-PROFIT Credit Counseling Service in Coeur d’Alene? I found one “Credit Counseling Services” but no one answers the phone and the voice mail box is full.

Lynne, I’m aware of Consumer Credit Counseling Service. I worked for them for a time right before I became county clerk, so that was about 14 years ago. They were a legitimate non-profit that provided many worthwhile services like workshops on budgeting as well as working with creditors to reduce payments. They were based out of Spokane and I helped set up the branch office in Cd’A. At that time WWP provided free space for them in their building on 15th Street.
I haven’t had any contact with them for a long time so not sure what their status is now. I would be very careful though and make sure you have the “exact” CCCS. There are now many of these types of “services” out there and they are by no means all non-profit anymore. While even non-profits have some fees I would really check out anyone offering these kinds of services these days.

I’m finding that out. Thanks Dan.

There is a true non-profit service in Lewiston, Lynn. They are a non-profit and very helpful - www.cccsnid.org
Best of luck to you or whomever needs the service - I’ve been there done that and am now on the Dave Ramsey “No Cash, No Toys” plan.
