Vacation Wild Card No. 7 — 5.27.09

You know how I know when I’m in the Vacation Zone? When I forget which day it is. Obviously, that happened yesterday — when I posted a Wild Card for Monday. Cindy caught me. And I’m so laid back that I didn’t correct the mistake when I read about it. I haven’t been checking in much. You’re in very good hands. And I continue to be indebted to Cindy for stepping in. Tuesday, I bought 4 flats of flowers, from $5.50 to $8 per flat, from a produce place that popped up near Cenex on Government Way. So I’m well on my way to finishing the garden this week. I’ll toss in some veggies sometime this week to complete the annual garden production. Then, I’ll kick back and enjoy everything else around here that celebrates our glorious summers. It looks like the weather will be cooperating through the weekend for outside fun. Now, for your Wednesday Wild Card. It is Wednesday, right?

Did anyone see the young man on the news this morning that was caught throwing rocks onto cars from the bridge? He smirked and grinned through his whole “apology”.

Marcel Marceau’s top hat hits Paris auction blocks

“PARIS – Marcel Marceau’s battered top hat, embellished with a single red flower, goes up for auction this week in a Paris sale of more than 900 personal objects and souvenirs that once belonged to globally celebrated mime.”

I will just assume this will be a silent auction.

I mentioned my purchase of a high wheel cultivator an antique thingamagiggy that could be called a “rototiller” for its time. Well, it just arrived by UPS. So, Thursday afternoon, I’ll see how it works on my berry and perennial patch where a lot of grass and weed is sprouting. I like what I spent over 100 dollars for, I’ll report back on it.

In any case, I’d prefer working with an antique cultivator that I can better control where I know I won’t destroy stuff I just planted over that of a rototiller.

Gas prices will always affect us, as we are the richest nation. At $5 a gallon, we will still drive our monsters. No wonder that others think us a bit odd.

Bayview Bob, like all of the rest of us up here, are just bustin’ out with witticisms

I feel for ya’ Marmite. They few times long ago that I visited your country it was hard to believe how much fuel was, and still is. It is still so cheap here compared to many places, yet we still need to complain about it.

    “Clever comment, Bayview Bob!”

    Thank you lew2nl!
    I try anyway. lol
