Councilman MikeK and I had a good time on the panel re: electronic media at Leadership Coeur d’Alene’s 2009 Media Day Thursday. I’d tell you what we said that drew the biggest laughs. But I’m prevented from doing so by Leadership Coeur d’Alene’s Media Rule. Which sez that Leadership Coeur d’Alene sessions are off the record. I imagine, however, that some of the jabs we took will get back to the targets, especially the one in which I said that the CdA Press is using “free speech” as an excuse to get by on the cheap by relying on volunteer monitors rather than paid staff to filter comments that are racist and/or inappropriate. I said it twice to drill the point home. I wish I could tell you about the clever jabs MikeK got in. But I’m stymied by the Media rule. Alas. Now, for your 9th of 11 Wild Cards (and as many Hat Tips to CindyH, who is drawing rave reviews as a fill-in) …

So this morning, as I take a look at the news, I have only a few words to say…WHAT THE HELL AMERICA???

Read the article- a momentary brain fart. The flag is now hanging where it was.

Well camera man, methinks there is a lot more to that story than the snippet Fox News gave and immediately spread to all outlets. It looks to me more like a turf battle between two employees forced to share a confined space. That’s a pretty big flag. And then Fox inflames by saying the complaining party was an immigrant. To me this is an example of jingoism taken to extremes. Personally I don’t mark a person’s patriotism by something as superficial as who has the biggest flag. Doesn’t she have a lapel pin? I do agree that it should not have been placed on the floor.
This employee getting her way will not solve the economic crisis, the wars in the Middle East, nuclear proliferation, saber rattling in North Korea or what to do with America’s torture policy.

DFO — you need to use the trick that we Senior Citizens use to figure out what today’s date is … look at the front page of the Spokesman.
Enjoy the remainder of your vacation. Cindy is doing a wonderful job!

I’m with you, Toad. Tecate and some kids baseball (not at the field, of course, that would be wrong).
Had fun at the Leadership CdA event too, DFO. Seemed like a good group, though I knew fewer of them than I have in previous years.

I can’t believe we are going to have a third weekend in a row of absolutely beautiful weather!!!! I am going to a car show in Palouse tomorrow - great day for a drive and this has turned into a great annual event. I’m bringing my camera too!

Don’t jinx it Jeanie. It’s tee-ballpalooza and softballpalooza for us this weekend. And nappapalooza if I have anything to do with it.
