A reader places an Election Day bet that rock-ribbed Republican Idaho doesn’t have a single
county named after a Democrat. Hate to take his 50 cents, but Dems nearly outnumber Republicans among Idaho’s 44 county namesakes: Jefferson, the eastern Idaho county named after the third president of the United States. Madison, a neighboring county named for the fourth president. Lewis, named after Voyage of Discovery leader Meriwether Lewis, appointed by Jefferson as governor of Louisiana Territory and served from 1807-09. Custer, named for George Armstrong You-Know-Who. The Ohio-born Custer was the 19th century version of a yellow-dog Democrat/Steve Crump, Twin Falls Times-News. More here.

Anyone guess which party Sitting Bull belonged to?
Oooh… I'd bet he was a constitutionalist. (green party is my second guess)

Its a hard stretch to make the lineage to party's of yesteryear. Regionally, Republican party id is in the majority only in the south right now. I doubt Lincoln would recognize them as Republicans.

Of course, he was in the “War” party. The painted face gave him away, right off :)

Sitting Bull had to be a politician for sure. Probably was Sitting On the Fence like a politician too?
Sitting Bull just sounds like a typical politician rhetoric. Although Crapo is coming in a strong second.

Sitting Bull, if my memory serves me, was a great Medicine Man for the Lakota, not a chief. ps: My memory often doesn't serve me well.

Hmmm… Democrat: Jefferson, Madison, Lewis, Custer
Republican: Blaine, Gooding, Lincoln, Fremont, Bingham
GOP still ahead by one. And, if we count their predecessors, the Federalists, there's also Adams and Washington.

Forgot about Franklin Richards (D) and Sam Clark (R) - we're still ahead by one, though…

Custer Was A Democrat. That explains everything. At the last minute he prolly tried diplomacy with the indians and got 10 arrows in his chest for the trouble. Poolman, would have givin' aid to the enemy by giving them milk and cookies.
