You can report what’s going on at your precinct, candidate sightings or anything else about the local elections today under this thread:
- 11:57 a.m. My brother, Frito Ray, reports there were 7 voters at the Nazarene Church poll when he voted just now and that poll worker Ed, who thinks I’m his father, sez the voting has been steady.
- 11:51 a.m. Alison McArthur reports that incumbents have the four corners of Seltice Way & Spokane/Post Falls with their people & signs. Linda Wilhelm has a group of supporters with her. Ron Jacobson and Mayor Clay Larkin are taking a break to attend a meeting. Alison & Co. will man the corners until 1 and then return at 4:30 p.m.
- 11:26 a.m. Steve Sibulsky: Voter # 50 at 11:00 at Assembly of God, across from Borah school. (DFO: I’ll check to see how many voted when I get there about 6 tonight.)
- 10:37 a.m. Cheri Howell: I was the third person at the 15th Street Fire Station to vote. That was at 8:30. The election workers were debating how slow the turn-out had been.
- 10:17 a.m. Councilman Mike Kennedy calls Huckleberries Central to say: “It’s a nice day for an election, and I have my broom out for a clean sweep.
- 9:19 a.m. Frum Helen Back: I saw four corners of friendly people with Wilhelm and Larkin signs at Spokane and Seltice this morning at 7:30. And then I saw a Wilhelm car driving around town.
- 9:13 a.m. OrangeTV: I voted at Trinity Lutheran (Precinct 54) this morn and I was the only soul in the place at 8 a.m. They said I was voter number 4.
- 8:51 a.m. Nic: Gookin/Adamas/Brannon squad is out in force on the corner of Kathleen and Ramsey. The person holding the Gookin for Dummies sign was most noticable. Next to him was a person with an Adams sign, and on the other side of the Adams guy was someone holding a “clean sweep city hall” sign.
- 8:43 a.m. Bent: I was #1 in my precinct this morning

My nieghbor went out of her way to tell me she wasn't voting today because “she didn't know enough” about the candidates. I get the impression that if she would've voted, she would have voted for the challengers. She seemed so apologetic towards me as she wished Mike Kennedy well.

Made it to the Moscow polls around 8:30. The place was pretty full for a municipal election, I thought. Very good turnout, but I suppose it was the before-work rush. Still, nice to see that many people doing their civic duty.

As the results come in, don't discount the effect on the local elections because of the national disgust with government in general. Throw the bums out!

Don't worry MamaJD. The openCDA crowd will be “Connecting the dots” for months to come. It's what they do. (file under probable cause)

I'm really curious to see how long it's gonna take the CAVE'rs to scream election fraud and demand an investigation.

“As the results come in, don't discount the effect on the local elections because of the national disgust with government in general.”—LOL. yeah, the CdA municipal election is a referendum on Obama and Democrats. Souza much?

Went to vote this morning on the way to work. It was about 7:40 or so. The very nice lady informed me that the polls were not open until 8:00. I couldn't wait for that so now I have to figure out when to get back there.
So DOTC - what's up with the later poll opening this year?

Sis - according the the Kootenai County Reagan Republicans, the city council race is a referendum on Obama. From their campaign literature: “With Democrats Barrack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid spending billions on massive corporate bailouts, we cannot stand by as liberal Democrats and their allies on our Coeu d'Alene City Council spend millions of our tax dollars on the Lake City Development Corporation … . ”
So glad they have connected the dots between the CdA City Council and the D.C. Liberal Left. Without this literature I would have thought this was just a non-partisan city election.

I was the third person at the 15th Street Fire Station to vote. That was at 8:30. The election workers were debating how slow the turn-out had been. Hopefully, everyone will get out and vote, especially with the jail expansion on the ballot.

Here in Spokane, voting means putting your ballot in the mailbox. Boring.

@DFO: My polling place was my neighborhood firehouse. What do you think :-)
Actually, when my boys were young I delighted in taking them to the polls. The three older ones got a good civics lesson and as they grew, they understood the importance of the voting process. Lots of great discussions sprung from those trips to the polls.
It appears to have stuck. My oldest is 19 and out of the house. He got his ballot in before I did :-)
I don't like that fact the my youngest thinks voting is something we do at the kitchen table— though now that I think about it, the kitchen table can be just as good a place to discuss the rights/privileges of voting. No flag stickers, though :-(

Well Cindy if you had turned your ballot in downtown today at the STA plaza, you could get one of those “I Voted' stickers…

“according the the Kootenai County Reagan Republicans, the city council race is a referendum on Obama.” LMAO. I'll bet they're watching every polling booth preparing for teh ACORN hordes coming to rob them of their guns and their democracy. I'm sure they think they're easy to spot unless someone told them about white ACORN members. That'll throw them. They can always go to plan b and watch for cartoon characters or superheros trying to cast a ballot.

Went to the Doctor this morning and spent the first five minutes telling her how to help her daughter vote for the first time. No, I am not getting a discount. :(
By the way, I was the 42nd voter in precinct 42! I made a comment about how weird that was and then spent the next couple of minutes explaining why it was weird. I am now a little nervous about the ability of the poll workers to count the ballots.

I voted at around noon at Sorenson School as I usually do and they expected maybe a 30% turnout today. I sure hope so, as it's a beautiful day and no excuses are warranted. I love getting out and actually going to my polling place, makes the whole thing more important to me in some small way.

Mechanic Man was just complaining this morning that he would rather go to the polls. In fact, he thinks it is unconstitutional that we in Spokane cannot go to the polls. The drop off near our house is about five miles away - the school where we used to vote is five blocks away. “I can't walk that far to put my ballot in a box - but I could walk the five blocks to vote.” Also - if you don't put your ballot in one of the designated ballot boxes, you can mail it - but you have to put a stamp on it. In essence, those who mail are being taxed to vote.

I'm with you Stick, I love going to the polls. Sorry to say that I was the only one there at around 12;30 but they did say there was a small rush just before I got there.

Sis - another part of the Reagan Repubs website encourages us to “counter the influence of ACORN” with this election. I guess because ACORN really has a strong presence in North Idaho. ;)

I wandered in on a leash and voted at noon. I was number 80 and the precinct next to me had 109. I'm sure it has improved since then. If not, what has all this noise been about?
