Time To Get Out & Vote

Item: Time to get out and vote: Time to get out and exercise your rights/Alecia Warren & Brian Walker, Coeur d’Alene Press

More Info: Election day is here, and polls are open around Kootenai County for several elections, including cities, fire districts and the county jail expansion proposal. Voter turnout is expected to be higher than usual, predicted Elections Supervisor Deedie Beard, who hopes to see between 30 and 35 percent of registered voters fill out a ballot.

Question: Any prediction re: voter turnout and outcome in the municipal elections?

Bloem by 1000 votes. Kennedy by 500 votes. Woody by 1500 votes and Goodlander to close to speculate. Optimistic and hopeful.

There's an election today? Seriously? Who is running — says the guy at Les Schwab Tires.

I am afraid that the 'Tire Guy' reflects the general attitude of the 'voters'. The posters here can beat each other up with points and counter points, but at the end of the day most people are just too worried about getting to work, working, getting home, eating, watching a movie/sit com, going to bed, and repeating. Ignorance of the world about, is truly bliss. The results will be interesting. Hopefully the hoorah doesn't divide the community too much more after the results are in.

Gookin/Adamas/Brannon squad is out in force on the corner of Kathleen and Ramsey. The person holding the Gookin for Dummies sign was most noticable. Next to him was a person with an Adams sign, and on the other side of the Adams guy was someone holding a “clean sweep city hall” sign. They were all standing shoulder to shoulder, except for the Brannon supporter. The guy holding the Brannon sign was there… but stanging down the block about 15 - 20 yards.

I find it interesting that they chose to picket (I mean campaign) across the street from a fire station.

    Nic,

Don't confuse people. The GookinSquad has no affiliation with the challengers.

We predict a landslide victories for Mayor Sandi Bloem and incumbents Mike Kennedy, Woody McEvers, and Deanna Goodlander.

Turnout will be 27 percent. The jail bond wil get 55 percent of the vote and be defeated.

I agree 'Laughing', though I am not laughing. The tire guy guy definitely reflects some attitudes in this town. The Gookin Squad is pretty close to what I feel as well, though I hope something else comes about with the jail bond.
