Whew! In my 25 years in Coeur d’Alene, I haven’t seen an election as close as the one last night. Now, I’ll make a confession. I almost voted for LCDC antagonist Dan Gookin. Mebbe I was tired. Who knows? But I noticed when I double checked my ballot that I had filled in the oval alongside Gookin’s name rather than Deanna Goodlander’s. Immediately, I looked for an eraser. Then, I realized that you don’t erase election ballots. So, sheepishly, I took the original ballot to the head of the Assembly of God polling place and asked for another. She folded the ballot in half, tucked it in an envelope for spoiled ballots, and handed me another, without smiling. I slunk back to the voting booth and voted as I intended. Meanwhile, my wife announced to the four poll workers and two other voters: “I can’t take him anywhere.” Now for your Wild Card …

I just hate it when someone doesn't at least give me a pathetic smile when I've made a boo boo. The clerks at WalMart are always nice when I screw up trying to pay with debit card. And that is the reason I keep shopping there. Maybe when you get to be older the election folks will be more friendly Dave.

Hey, never feel bad about having them spoil your ballot and giving you another one if you make a mistake. Mistakes happen, they have a process to deal with them, and you should feel free to make sure the ballot goes in exactly as you intended it should.

@DOTC Have to disagree there. DFO almost gookined his ballot. In some states I believe that is a crime. At the very least he should have to write “I wll not vote for Dan Gookin,” five hundred times.
Just sayin' :-)

DFO…..Was it a Freudian slip? Did you really mean to vote for Gookin? ;-)

The US senate just voted to extend aid for the jobless and the home buyer incentives. This is good, imo, as it gets money where it is needed most, in the revival of our economy. A bunch of money never gets to where it is intended and is not a productive use of taxpayer funds. This is good.

Now that the politicking is behind us, we can comfort ourselves knowing that HBO is 100% flog-free.
'FAKEOSPHERE' LATEST WEB TRAP FOR CONSUMERS
http://redtape.msnbc.com/2009/11/late…
Click on a weight-loss, work-at-home or acai berry ad and you’re likely to land on what looks like a blog or discussion board. Regular folks appear to be debating the merits of the product – you might even see some contrary opinions. But in the end, the bloggers and their readers always win over the skeptics and persuade them to buy the product from a convenient nearby link.
Welcome to the “fakeosphere.” Internet marketing veteran and analyst Jay Weintraub says fake blogs – or flogs – fake news sites and manufactured testimonials are the fastest-growing segment of Internet advertising. He thinks it’s a $500 million-a-year industry – and he compares it to the explosive growth of spam a decade ago.
“I don’t think people realize how big this has become, and how quickly,” said Weintraub, adding that a popular top flog campaign can generate 10,000 daily sales.

“Click on a weight-loss, work-at-home or acai berry ad…”
I already know how to lose weight (smaller portions, reduce high caloric intake), I already know actual legitimate work-at-home opportunities, but I don't know and don't care what acai berries are.
Why click?
10,000 sheeple a day will, apparently.

When they develop a site that will summon a Boise firefighter to my door— without an actual emergency.
Then. And only then, will I click.

Lucky DFO, you could have just punched number two like they did in Florida for PB.

Glad it's over. Now if we could only get the housing mkt fixed.Problem is another round of foreclosures is on the way.Moodys & Fiserv see major problems remaining in the areas of largest forclosures and declining prices.Florida still leads the way with the Phoenix,Az mkt expected to take another hit as home values there could fall another 25% according to their projection announced on CNBC.Considering home values have already dropped as much as 50% in the desert that's not encouraging. To many bad loans and overbuilding. Here in CDA the mkt is rebounding but sales prices are lower and the waterfront arena is overcrowded and overpriced.
