Hilde Kellogg, who turned 91 a few weeks ago, is receiving a very special belated birthday gift
this afternoon when a park is named in her honor. Hilde Kellogg Park is on the corner of Idaho Street and 21st Avenue and just a few blocks from where Hilde’s made her home for about a half century. Ms. Kellogg has made an impact in Post Falls and the Idaho Legislature through the years, blazing trails in this community that have made the journey possible for those of us who’ve come after. The quality of life we all enjoy is due in no small part to those citizens who served in the 1970s and 1980s and had the vision of what Post Falls could and would become/Kerri Thoreson, Main Street, Coeur d’Alene Press. More here.
Question: Is there someone in your community that deserves to be honored by having a park or building named after them: Who? Why?

I think the noted landscape architect Jonathan Mueller needs to have a park renamed in his honor. He designed the NW Blvd entrance to the city, one of the best in the west. He redesigned the Sherman/Lakeside streetscape. He designed Riverstone. As a senior at IDAHO, he designed the little parklette that occupies the space of the burnt out Woolworth's. If memory serves, and it's possible that mine could be faulty, he oversaw the development of Phippeny Park. And literally dozens of other projects, parks and plans that changed the way Coeur d'Alene looks forever. It's Jonathan Mueller that has made Coeur d'Alene a worthy contender with Spokane for the most beautiful green city in the West. And Post Falls, too!
