TGS: Gookin Then & Now

The Gookin Squad & Phaedrus have been keeping tabs on possible position changes of City Council candidate Dan Gookin. Gookin Squad offers the following today:

  • Dan Gookin today: "For our city council, accountability means understanding that their first duty is to represent the citizens and taxpayers of the city. It means that they must do that job in public, with transparency and respect for the process. It means understanding that citizens who ask questions or disagree over policy are not the enemies, but that they are to be respected and not attacked."
  • Dan Gookin in December of 2008 under “Something's Missing” when he defaces an image of the Mayor. (See link)

Question: Do you think it's fair to hold a candidate accountable for words that he wrote two or three years ago on a blog?
