Borah Girl Challenges Lacrosse Rules

Item: Should girls be allowed to play boys lacrosse? A Borah High student is challenging the league’s ruling to keep her out/Jesse Zentz, Idaho Statesman

More Info: When Borah High sophomore Sara Maras decided to play boys lacrosse, she didn’t intend to cause a commotion. But her decision has forced the sport’s local governing body to make some difficult decisions of its own. Treasure Valley Lacrosse League board members voted in February against her petition to play boys lacrosse. But Borah coach Erik Jones put Maras on the junior varsity roster and allowed her to play in a game against Skyview last month. Jones’ actions netted him a one-game suspension for violating the board’s decision. The TVLL board now must decide what disciplinary action it will take if Maras continues to play for the team.

Question: Should girls be allowed to play boys’ lacrosse?
