Bulls riders leave the arena as steel beams from the World Trade Center from Sept. 11, 2001, lie on a trailer behind during the Kitsap County Fair & Stampede in Silverdale, Wash., Sunday. The beams, which were put on display in two or three Kootenai County locations earlier this month (see Kerri Thoreson’s photos here), will become part of a Kitsap County, Wash., memorial. As an interesting aside to the Montana woman that was arrested for scolding a judge for speeding: A while back I observed a local police car driving 45 in the 35 mph limit on hwy 95. No it wasn’t cda police. I called the city fathers to task on this, pointing out that a terrible example was being set and how did they expect the rest of us to obey laws that the officers don’t. I got an apologetic call from the city manager, the police chief and the supervisor of the offending officer. I’m thinking he won’t be in a hurry any more. I think most of our local policing agencies would feel the same. I know Rocky would.
