Judge Says No To Brannon Request

Challenger Jim Brannon appears in Judge Benjamin Simpson's courtroom prior to hearing on his temporary restraining order request.

Update (@ 5:19 p.m.): Judge Benjamin Simpson has rejected challenger Jim Brannon's requet for a temporary restraining order to prevent Mayor Sandi Bloem and council members from being sworn in at their regular meeting at 6 o'clock tonight.

Huckleberries hears ... that 1st District Judge Benjamin Simpson will hear Jim Brannon's 12th-hour request for a temporary restraining order at 4 p.m. today in Courtroom 8. Brannon is trying to prevent the four incumbents who won re-election from being sworn into office tonight, including Councilman Mike Kennedy, who defeated Brannon by 5 votes. The four are scheduled to be sworn in at 6 p.m. in council chambers at the public library.
