Idaho Blogosphere — 1.5.10

Clearly, the folks at the Idaho Supreme Court have gotten the message — and they have an unpopular idea that lawmakers should consider seriously. They want to collect an additional $15 fee from lawbreakers, to help a cash-strapped court system offset budget cuts. If you commit a crime — or even just admit to a speeding ticket — you would pay a fee designed to raise $2.9 million a year for five years, according to an Idaho Business Review story last week/Kevin Richert, Idaho Statesman. More here.

Question: Would you want the Idaho Legislature to increase fines on minor crimes, like speeding, to help pay for the cash-strapped court system and state law enforcement?
