DFO: Don’t Take Baby To The Theater
In the "I thought I'd scene, or heard, it all" Dept., I and a nearly packed house at the Lake City Playhouse production of "Leader of the Pack" was treated to a fidgeting baby for the entire second half. I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted the mother and the baby in the third row prior to the opening curtain. I wondered how the mother was going to keep the baby quiet for the entire production. The answer came quickly. Halfway through the first act, the mother had the sense to take her baby outside when it began making noise. She wasn't as considerate -- if that word can be used for a mother with a baby at live theater -- during the second half. She couldn't even quiet the child by offering to breast feed it. Toss in a coupla of drunks who arrived after the play began and talked throughout the second act, and it was a less-than-enjoyable evening. However, lead Emily Cleveland and singer Marina Kalani made the production worth seeing, especially when they soldiered on despite the distractions.
Question: Have you encountered many rude goers at plays, concerts, movies, or other similar public settings?
