City: Brannon P.I. Firm Lacks Permit

The city of Coeur d'Alene has warned Confidential Investigations to get a permit if it plans to continue doing investigative work within the city limits. Confidential Investigations has been hired by Jim Brannon to obtain voter information in his lawsuit against Councilman Mike Kennedy and other city officials. Erin Jenkins of Confidential Investigations contacted former Coeur d'Alene resident Monica Paquin recently to ask about her vote in the 2009 election. In a letter written to Confidential Investigations Wednesday, Deputy City Clerk Kathy Lewis noted that the company was warned in writing on Nov. 2 that it needed to obtain a $50 license per year to operate in the city limits. Also, each employee must obtain an individual license for $25 per year and undergo a $45 background check. In her letter, Lewis pointed out that Confidential Investigatins had requested information of "an investigative nature" within the city limits on Oct. 21, Nov. 12, and Nov. 13, 2009/Huckleberries Online.
